Relies extensively on the use of archive footage from The Big Cage (1933). Rest in peace to those 4 tigers that was killed IRL. This is a Universal Monster Classics (no.25) and the worst of them all.

BlurayRip RARBG.

Universal's horror department running out of ideas, turning yet another human into a animal monster. Only gimmick is that it's a woman this time. Does try to make things a little more exciting with gorillas, lions and tigers, which actually was far more fun than the horror portion of the film.

Basically one solid hour of lion taming. Acquanetta's gorilla stare is allegedly capable of dominating the king of beasts; what she does in fact have is the remarkable talent to make film run backward.

Loses sight of its premise in over-long circus sequences. There's a few creepy moments and Carradine kicks ass, but it never seems to know what to do with itself. The level of animal cruelty on display is really unsettling, too.

Universal honchos' efforts to add a recurring female fiend to their '40s monster roster came up short with these "Ape Woman" films. This is the first and best of the threesome, but that's a less-than-gala testimonial. Indeed, with Stone as a Clyde Beatty wannabe (matched with lots of actual Beatty footage), this plays more like a circus picture than a horror flick, with wild-animal acts eating up much of the screentime. Carradine easily steals his scenes.
