(Rewatch: I've grown to appreciate this lost gem. It's a black film about race but without much white involvement. It's a fixture in my collection to watch with others. Too bad Jenkins died causing the film to be lost. He could have done more. Memorable music.) A nice film about conflicts in different black American family experiences. The plot plays out as you would expect from similar star-crossed lovers with disapproving family themes. Fav scene: going on a date and leaving town

An 80’s film made by an all black cast/production about the nuances in race and the intersection with history and class.
