It's a really tense film with something to say about the dark ways in which the internet can "connect" us, often times subverting expectations, specifically about sex workers. Feels genuine due to Mazzei's experience in this world, Brewer really helped realize the character. The final act left a little to be desired which is sometimes the case when mysteries are revealed, but the final scene brought it back. An ominous horror atmosphere but no jump scares to punctuate it, but that's fine.

This movie is literally definition of bad movie, "bad" is not enough to descript to this, this is useless piece of shit

Would be a solid mid-tier episode of Black Mirror if said show allowed boobs. At times it seems a bit future dystopian but since it was written by an ex-camgirl I'm willing to accept that weird niche of internet culture is precisely as bizarre and disturbing as it's portrayed in this movie.

Everyone can relate to the brief terror of being locked out of your account. This is an interesting premise with a very, very good lead (almost only) performance. The film suffers when it attempts to provide an explanation, which is not plausible or satisfying. Still, a good look into a bizarre corner of the interwebs.

Intense and stomach turning. This was a definite success. I was invested the whole way through.

Madeline Brewer does a fine job, and this has some neat moments, but it devolves in the end towards some half-assed explanations and flat climaxes.

People have been trying to make horror out of internet porn for years (see My Little Eye, Girl House) but finally someone found the right approach. Cam turns it into a cyberidentity thriller that captures much more than just titillation - the ultimate loss of self in a world of avatars. Brilliant lead performance too.

I appreciate a good Mystery and Psychological Thriller but if you try to provide an explanation to all the things going on on that one you just lose your time. And I do not mean there is a hidden explanation too hard to find, it is simply nonexistent. By the way, Madeleine awesome acting.

Solid thriller about the horrors of identity theft in the digital age. Madeline Brewer gives a stand-out performance and the film never overstays its welcome.

Techno-horror's always hard to get right, as the setting, aesthetics and messaging can very easily become cringey, irrelevant and didactic. While "Cam" is not impervious to all that, it manages to rise above the lot with its themes of identity theft and getting lost within oneself. It's immersive in an unsettling manner, works well not only as a plain thriller but, crucially, an allegorical one too, succeeds in portraying external plight and internal turmoil, and nails the finale's succinctness.

This one hit home pretty good. I really enjoyed this one cause I felt it was pretty far out there and definitely in it's time.

Does a nice job of showing the dangers of being "internet famous" then turns it into a sci/fi mystery. It's kinda interesting, but I got lost with the plot along the way

This is a film that you don't expect much from going in and it delivers about that amount. Not a huge lot happens in the first half but when the action does begin it feels kind of forced. There is a lot left open too at the end which isn't really explained as it seemed like they had to have it all done at 90 minutes with no room for going over. Its vaguely entertaining for the later half of it's duration but doesn't deliver much beyond.

Went in totally blind and wouldn't have had it any other way as the subversion of the budding thriller was absolutely seller. My sympathy goes out to any whom might end up reading that lazy and thoughtless copy-paste description submitted here before having discovered this film on their own.

Deals with identity in a way that they could only do now in these internet horror days. It's not as cinematically interesting and doesn't have the language of Searching or Unfriended but it's an interesting walk. The ending doesn't make sense not in the way that it's too confusing but it's just limp af and doesn't match the tone the film sets.

Doesn't really have an explanation / conclusion, which undermines the more fantastical aspects of this, but I appreciated the honest depiction of how dispiriting camwhoring is.

Sort of engaging in its first hour, but totally uninteresting when it truly needs to develop horror and suspense -- the problem is not refusing to give away easy answers, if the clone is supernatural or just a hacker, but resuming to whole damn thing to a simple "internet might drive you crazy" equation.

I was having a lot of fun with this intriguing thriller set within the online camming world until the final act sorta just shoots itself in the face. Up until then it was frequently tense and entertaining and the observations it was making about both those who perform and watch the cam shows felt like it was going to amount to something more than it did.

Excruciatingly, unfathomably stupid. A STRONG contender for the worst film ever made. I'm absolutely flabbergasted and terribly fucking discouraged by all the positive remarks and acclaim this has received.

It's passably crafted, but the story itself is way too juvenile and kind of one-note, so gets stale quickly.

This was good and weird and surprising. The world of sex work is a layered one and I've been waiting for a film that tackles it with something more substantial than the standard puritanical finger-wagging. "Cam" soars over that bar.
