Cairo Time

I loved just about everything about this movie. It's an incredibly simple story, but deceptively simple. The performances of the 2 leads are so full of nuance and subtlety that it made for an intense, emotional experience, just watching their chemistry. For me, anyway.

By no means a bad movie, just not a story I was necessarily interested in.

Very good in the romance genre

Has its moments but it seems too unfocused and scattershot. Felt like an amateurish directorial work.

Patricia Clarkson wanders around Cairo on the arm of her husband's friend, a coffee shop owner who plays chess with extras. Some aspects of the film are refreshing, and Clarkson is fun to watch, but Siddig spends too much time looking deeply at us, at her, at things. This does not do enough to justify the flagging pace and simplistic plot.

A mildly entertaining film, despite it's overly simple cliche-ridden storyline. The setting is expressed beautiful, capturing the the spirit of the streets or Cairo and the Great Pyramids, which ultimately what mostly keeps the film afloat.

Good. A somewhat simple yet engaging tale about an American woman's glimpse of the mid-eastern life. The story's simplicity is its main virtue. The film gets a teeny bit preachy at times and lags very slightly but remains enjoyable throughout due to the exotic locale and excellent performances by the main leads. Recommended.

The guy is too perfect, the woman is incomprehensibly stupid and wouldn't the Middle East be wonderful if not for those Jewish bogeymen? Truly a terrible movie on just about every front.
