Bulldog Drummond Comes Back

This was a solidly fun adventure/ crime film. It's a cheapy and borrows heavily from Sherlock Holmes but maybe that was part of its charm.

These Drummond films are good, pulpy fun and this one is no exception.

Bulldog Drummond is now secondary in his own series as Paramount lured the great John Barrymore on his downward spiral to play the Colonel Neilson! As for the part of Drummond, it went to John Howard doing the role for the 1st of six times. And this is a real B-picture. Lacks any touch to make it a great experience. The main angle they play is putting Barrymore in freak make-up. Like Barrymore would look like in Svengali (1931). Just a simple mystery movie hoping the names would carry it.
