Sacha Baron Cohen must have balls of steel to have been able to make this movie. I don't care if any of it was staged, I don't care if it isn't as good as "Borat," I'm just amazed that someone has the balls to go out there put this on the screen.

Sacha's Borat was great because it made the audience think "Wow! Did he really do that", but in Bruno even though most of it seemed staged it made audience think "Gosh! He shouldn't have done that"

Sacha Baron Cohen tries to recreate the box office madness that surrounded Borat in Bruno, a satirical, and socially offensive comical impersonation of a homosexual Austrian television & fashion personality. The success of Borat however was not repeated, mostly to the fact that Cohen's imitation is taken too far. His over-the-top portrayal of a homosexual reinforces stereotypes and is met by a wave of angered civil rights activists and an incensed gay community. Save your money and stay home

I like a good offensive movie sometimes and this is no doubt one of those, but somewhere along the way Cohen sacrifices humor for the sake of a shock and now-a-days there are far less boundries to push. There were a couple decent jokes, but not enough for me to forget that this movie was generally poorly written.

Bruno is, surprisingly, cruder, lewder, and more reliant on shock value than Borat. And yet, in spite of this, I found it much funnier than its predecessor. More of it may be staged, and there may be a few dry spells (though that could just be me trying to recover from earlier jokes), but Cohen once again fully commits to his character and many of the gags are wondrous, which is a great compliment to the screenplay some would argue doesn't exist.

I love it as a blatant "Fuck you" to any homophobic pricks who have mistakenly assembled to watch it, but with a few exceptions it exposes less a homophobic current prevailing in American society than the discomfort of an unrequited come-on. After the takedown of American xenophobia, ignorance and paternalism that is Borat, a disappointment.

Ist even more wulgar than Borat, mit ein even more shapeless and anti-climatic schtory arc, und even more of es ist schtaged. Und yet in terms of humor, there ist little else to say außer dass ich laughed so hard ich thought milch was going to shoot out of mein Schnauze even though ich wasn't drinking any. Also, in some strong sense (if in a twisted way) it works as queer activism.

There are a few good parts to this movie but overall not great. It was funny at times and Cohen did a good acting job. It also brings out the point of our obsession with celebrity. It is just entirely too vulgar, almost distasteful. I mean some of the antics were funny but I believe he went a bit too far on some things.

A scandalously convivial and impishly salacious comedy than is even more sleazy than Borat. However, most of it is staged this time. Despite this, it is irrefutably funny and most of the events that precede are downright priceless and whimiscal. Near the end however you get tired by the gay jokes and sexual encounters and start to fall asleep. This is redeemed by the ending, which had everybody rolling on the floor.

Cohen has balls, and he can't wait to show them to you. Promos spoil nearly every major reveal, which is a shame because it adds a boring predictability to an otherwise outrageously funny film. It is more staged, and the shock can wear thin, but Bruno shines playing off real people. The photo-shoot parents offer some of the movie's best moments. I lowered my expectations going in and had a blast. It's Charles' weakest film so far, and rehashes some material, but it's still daring and hilarious.

Although every gag is scripted, you can't deny that the non-actors' reactions are genuine. With half the gags, Cohen - like with Borat - once again reveals the ignorance and intolerance of many Americans. The other half is him just trolling people in the most outrageous manner possible. He really is a genius. I'm mostly glad that Bruno isn't as quotable as Borat, since everyone and their step-mother were imitating Borat in the months succeeding that movie.

If you've seen Borat, you'll be familiar with the Pattern but where the former was a hilarious way of eavesdropping into the unguarded opinions of bigotry, Bruno seems relatively aimless with only a few great moments of social indictment. Overall, Cohen seems satisfied to push the limits of how much one can make an audience squirm while still managing to up the ante just when you start to fear for his safety.

The character doesn't know what he wants, the audience never sees how he gets from A to B, there's no cohesive idea to the film, so we're left with nothing but a bunch of short unrelated gags and no throughline. There's no proper ending. Makes you laugh with shock humor though.

Oh my God. This is what I expected when "Borat" got raves -- it's a shocking, satirical, and hilarious mockumentary that's twice as funny and ten times as consistent as Baron Cohen's last attempt. Every line is crossed (there's an exaggerated, explicit montage in the first five minutes whose purpose seems to be to get all the prudes out of the theater early) and no holds are barred (except for taking out a Michael Jackson bit -- respek). Baron Cohen isn't just hilarious: I admire his balls.

Really, did Baron Cohen actually think this character was funny or was he merely being smug and cynical? After "Borat," it's time to retire this shtick of a ridiculously stupid--or in this case, flamboyant and stupid--staged character intersecting with 'real' people and situations. The sexual content is constantly crude rather than provocative. Erratic, nausea-inducing, and takes a turn for the nasty.

The confrontational style of humor is less effective in some sense, perhaps because of exposure to it already in the form of Borat. Because of this it can't match the surprise and punch that Borat had, but it is certainly not lacking in the joke department. Very funny, especially near the end.

It has its moments where its is really funny, the wrestling scene in the deep south was hysterical. Unfortunately I just felt it was a re-run of the Borat model with a much less likeable and quoteable character, a sub-standard plot and it didn't manage to appear as genuine. Relies heavily on crude and shock humour.

Borat may not be the most fully drawn character to grace the screen, but compared to the one-note Bruno, he may as well be Willy Loman or Atticus Finch. There are some laugh-out-loud moments here (focus group, "can I get anyone a sandwich?", etc.) but Bruno's schtick (ie, aren't gays silly and kinda pervy?) rarely -- and worse, predictably -- arouses nothing more than contempt and disgust from his reluctant co-stars. Seeing the worst be brought out in people turns out to be, well, not very fun.

Overall, the movie is far too disturbing and outrightly offensive to most. Sacha Baron Cohen wants to paint a picture of America's self-indulgence, intolerance, hypocrisy, and make every famous person look stupid. And he does create that, but by using and thriving off the very stereotypes he tries to lampoon. I'll admit there are a few good jokes, and he hits a few good notes, but the shock factor is far too extreme, offensive and depraved. I left disturbed.

A few genuinely hilarious moments save this from being a total piece of shit. Most of the funny parts were either played to death in previews or felt staged and it took away much of the appeal that came with Borat. Absolutely fucking hysterical. I could not stop laughing for most of this film, and my laughter caused me to miss some of the other jokes, so I will have to go back and rewatch this at another time. Bruno is superior to 2006's Borat in many ways, and Cohen lets the jokes fly with all the colors of the Austrian rainbow. If you had any doubts he would be able to pull these stunts off a second time, there is no doubt here that he was and they are pulled off with brilliance. Stellar and worth a rent

Nothing is proved by making Ron Paul justifiably uncomfortable. On the other hand, the parents willing to risk just about anything to have their babies in a photo shoot is one of the most appalling things I've seen. The movie seems to constantly vacillate between segments that work and segments that don't, making it more uneven than its predecessor. It's generally less funny as well. It seemed like there were fewer comic moments overall, but the ones that were there were pretty good.

Apart from a couple of insane setpieces towards the end, it fails to capture the anarchic, effortless hilarity of Borat. This is silly fluff, and it knows it. The principal shortcoming is that the character of Brüno is just not as unique and striking as his predecessors, Ali G and Borat. It doesn't milk too many hapless celebrities, but it has a few funny moments when members of the American public (especially the pushy "Hollywood parents") are falling foul of Cohen's set-ups. The fully scripted scenes are largely worthless filler. I don't feel great about having watched this and laughed some.

Like the Borat and Ali G movies, it's entertaining--well-structured and scandalous. I have some serious moral qualms, though, because of the irresponsibility with which he uses stereotypes in this film. Some scenes are only useful if you think certain types of sexual relationships are funny, and some are simply uncomfortable provocations. At times the premise and authenticity of a scene depends on you forgetting that there was a camera present. It's funny, but there are some real deficits.

Not as good as Borat since alot of the humor here is strained w/ alot of the material counting on the audience being shocked by "outrageous" sexual antics. He also pushes the limits so far this time that many of his interviewees r either almost 2 serious & grave 4 laughs (like the israeli/palestinian meet), sympathetic (the misguided, but eager 2 b helpful gay "converter") or so horrible themselves (like the stage moms) that their responses cut off any laugh u might have had 2 his questions.
