Brown Girl Begins

Brown Girl Begins was interesting. The production was low budget but it worked in parts. I like the afro-futuristic story but there were parts of it that took me out of it. Mouna Traore was very good. Kabongo, who was her love interest, was more lackluster. I don't know enough about Jamaican folklore to tell whether this was based on real beliefs or not but it was interesting none-the-less. I would watch another movie like this if there ever is one.
