Bright Angel

Parts of this are quite good, but the breathy “romantic” moments are cloying & overbearingly saccharine, Lili Taylor feels like a prop, and Mulroney’s face never gets less slappably annoying.

I have a soft spot of Americana movies. Something about a dusty diner filled with odd characters in a place that I'd rather not live fascinates me. This unusual coming of age has a great cast, even if it is quite aimless in its plotting. Mulroney is probably least interesting, but, fortunately, there are so many character actors that show up that this manages to pop in the right places.
