I used to not like it but then I rewatched it and it was quite lovely.

Sequels that come out more than a decade after their predecessors are usually terrible. But this one managed to be better than the second installment and a return to form. It was also a bit of a refresher to have a new love interest in Dempsey and have him playing a different type than Grant played. The fundamental weakness of this trilogy remains that you never really root for Jones to be with Firth.

The third in the Bridget Jones series is a heavy improvement on the second film. While the second overdid the stylized approach, Baby returns to the subtlety and easy going nature of the original. The carnage is reduced and the story is allowed to grow on its own. Also Renee Zellweger is as charming as ever.

Not as hilarious as the first, but catching that lightning in a bottle twice is hard to do - however; it is a massive return to form after the extreme disappointment of the second (Edge of Reason) which lost all semblence of any realism that could be related to and along with that the basis for its humour. So, an enjoyable return to form showing a wise decision to re-emply the director from Bridget's first outing.

I came with no expectations to watch this movie and it delivered. The acting is shameful and the script is very poor, but the story has some entertaining value.

W3E1P0S1V1M1A1R1. Above average silly chick flick fare, though Patrick Dempsey has outlived his moment.

What can I say? It was a long distance flight and I suffered from insomnia. What's even worse: this was one of the better movies I watched. I hate being able to relate to movies that were obviously cut out for my age and gender group. This movie made me hate Hollywood (once more), myself (for some time) and babies (I think).

This film was a made for the fans of "Bridget Jones", there are inside jokes and unexplained plot lines that rely on the first two movies. Don't make this your first Bridget Jones movie, it will fall short.

Surprisingly fresh and enjoyable sequel benefits from Zellweger in terrific (and adorable) form, and a screenplay clearly tarted up with some cleverly droll one-liners, courtesy of Thompson, who also gives herself a terrific scene-stealing part. Runs out of steam in the last half hour, and Bridget's playing of Dempsey and Firth against each other smacks of cruelty, but overall an entertaining ride, and much better than it had any right to be.

So we are supposed to believe that someone who can get laid at the drop of a hat by the likes of Firth and Dempsey actually can't get a boyfriend and spends her birthday miming to rap music ... then there is the continuous "look how twee and cute I am" smile, the stupid script, an appalling cameo from Thompson, an outcome as predictable as night following day, and you have a really crap film.... that's not to say there aren't a couple of good jokes in it, there are, but it is just a crap film.

Now she's back in Bridget Jones's Baby, which sounds godawful in title and concept -- but which in execution is a fizzy delight.

I applaud the film for aiming at a different target than most RomComs, and it does some things really well, most notably making both male leads equally viable and interesting, but not perfect. But it's still filled with a ton of cringeworthy missteps, the awkward use of music stands out the most, and is slavishly devoted to the basic RomCom arc, which washes out a lot of its originality.

I think it's a good sequel - it fits in fairly well. Zellweger effortlessly picks up the character again, and it was good to see some of the others back, too. There were a couple of funny moments, but most of them were pretty embarrassing (and not in the way they intended). But yeah, it was fine. You know what would've made it at least 25% better though? Hugh Grant. I'm sure the story wouldn't be drastically different, but the emotional impact would've been far stronger.

Think of it as Bridget Jones the TV-movie with extended swearing for the lack of anything else to add, and you've adjusted the expectations more accurately. Starts out awkwardly readjusting itself back into Bridget Jones mode after all these years, but once she gets impregnated by two men some of the old charm comes back and it becomes surprisingly watchable for a unnecessary 3rd sequel.

Much much better than the second opus, but feels like a rehash of the first two anyway. Funny bits, cringy bits, facepalmingly stupid bits, I guess it was pretty much what I expected to see, so it was good? Dunno.

Bridget Jones's Baby wasn't a horrible movie. It's funny in places. But even though I laughed, it made me sad, too. Sad that the definition of integrity is now whatever we want it to mean. Which, when you think about it, is exactly the opposite of what it should be. (pluggedin.com)

Bridget Jones's Baby is a pleasant surprise and an enjoyable return to long overdue form. 12 years have passed since the underwhelming Edge of Reason and Renée Zellweger & Colin Firth have comfortably slipped back into their roles. The absence of Hugh Grant is no issue and Patrick Dempsey is a serviceable alternative. Emma Thompson is a notable addition too and she steals every scene. I laughed consistently throughout and overall this is a worthy sequel and a fitting and pleasing conclusion.

The first Bridget was fun and fresh. This was more phoned in and stale. And the sequel tease at the end was a "You can't be serious!" moment, as surely NO one left the theater thinking "I can't wait for the next one!". I didn't exactly hate it though. Reminded me of the old so-so flicks you'd catch on cable to pass the time.

Being ok w/ the franchise, I was initially pleased to see the familiar - & ostensibly more mature- characters. Unfortunately the script was a march of contrivances (wouldn't it have been unexpectedly moving to have Bridget tell Darcy the child may not be his w/out having to play the reveal for laughs as well?) that telegraph the jokes. Presenting the decision to become a single mom as awesome while ignoring that most don't have Bridget's successful career is also liberal idiocy at its worst.
