Cute twist at the end, but not worth Bridget's erratic, whiny, and insane behavior which totally destroys any respect or fondness you had for her character. I'd recommend playing this in the background while you do laundry or something like that. You can still follow the plot and I really did enjoy 5 minutes near the end.

I realize 2004 was nearly two decades ago from the time of this writing, but man this feels older (and somehow even older than the first) in its gender politics. Also--who thought what this small charming story needed was a sequel that added jetsetting and ski slope pratfalls?

The Americans use grossness as a lazy way to get laughs, (Ferrel et al), while the British use twee, sweet stupid love affairs as their "go-to", and this is the archetypial twee, sweet, stupid film of that genre ... of course it has its funny bits ... like a virgin has never sounded so good ... but this is pants. The Edge of Reason in the title obviously comes from the debate as to whether you have crossed it if you sat through ALL of this, when you could guess exactly what was going to happen

Edge of Reason is a major step down from the original to be sure. Most of the style and charm worked its way through. But the strong character work and advancement of their lives somehow got lost in translation. Renée Zellweger is still perfect in the role. Even if the story doesn't quite measure up most of the time.

Whatever tricks the original film had up its sleeve, it had run out of them for the plodding, predictable sequel.

Feels like a terrible rehash of the first movie. I like rom-coms, I like silly movies, I liked the first Bridget Jones, but this one simply didn't click at all with me. I can't get over how stupid Bridget is throughout the whole movie.

Same as it ever was, but what's the use of doing it all over again? Is it just to recycle Renée's ability to be british?

The screwball comedy to the original's romantic comedy. It's not as good, and also pretty gross in its use of Thailand as a setting.

Largely product placement and music licensing between repeats of scenes from the first one, done worse, with a dumber story, but the bit where Bridget Jones takes mushies was pretty accurate, which doesn't make up for the rest of this movie existing or why I watched it.

The Edge of Reason was always on the cards and following the success of the first film, there was no doubt that we would get this sequel. But sadly this is a poor sequel and it tarnishes it's predecessor. The first film had its fare share of silly moments, but this entire film is too ridiculous. And ultimately this sequel just isn't all that funny. Even Zellweger, Firth and Grant seemed to have outgrown their roles and it's only the second film. I doubt there will be a demand for a third film.

Unnecessary sequel. The first half you just get irritated about how irrational, immature and utterly pointless (bit like the movie) all of Bridget actions are. She's really behaving like a raving lunatic and you can't empathise with her one bit. However, for some reason, you do get to like her a bit during the second half of the movie and there are two scenes that are really really funny: the singing in the Thai prison and the fight between Hugh Grant and the one and only 'mister Darcy'.

The only thing hilarious in the movie is Bridget with her ill fitting dresses and the bottom of the size of two bowling balls. The first one did have a few hilarious moments. This on was just had stupid moments and nothing else. A movie that you can pass.

A crushing disappointment, considering the predecessor is undoubtedly one of the smartest, enjoyable rom-coms ever made. Zellwegger tries hard to recapture the spirit of the original, but she is brought down by a screenplay that is out more than ever to turn Bridget into a moron.
