Wiig is great, carrying this (someone hit me) dramady with her comedic timing and ability to express her vulnerability. The bodily fluids scene aside, Feig's humour uses painful awkwardness, Jody Hill-style, with believability added to the point where you crave (rather than roll your eyes at) the sweet romance. Wiig and O'Dowd are cute, McCarthy hilarious and this does little to cure me of my Rose Byrne infatuation. Ranks with '40-Year-Old Virgin' and 'Superbad' as one of the Apatow Crew's best.

Well, it definitely exceeded my expectations in terms of raunchiness and humor, transcending its limitations that might have been set by its unfortunate title. All members of its versatile cast have their moment to shine but Wiig comes out on top with her genuine interaction and astute comedic delivery. I really hope people don't give this one a pass because it's called "Bridesmaids", they'd be missing on some hilarious shit.

I must say I am disappointed. It has several hilarious gags with long stretches of somewhat dull scenes of Annie's downward spiral into self-pity that is only tolerable because of Wiig's adorableness. Still worth watching for the good parts.

Coitus-craving housewife who wants to murder her loinfruit? Check. Bubbly ditz who says everything she is thinking without thinking about anything she's saying? Check. Ample effort spent on fleshing out these characters instead of packing the celluloid with cupcake-baking montages (yes, plural)? No. Oh well, at least it featured a pair of rabid raccoons and a, shall we say, "mature" Wilson Phillips...or was it a pair of mature raccoons and a rabid Wilson Phillips...? One of the funniest movies in a long time. Don't make the mistake of thinking this is a chick flick just because the stars are women. It's a good, hilarious movie no matter your gender. Great performances all around, but Melissa McCarthy steals the show.

It's a slow starter, its plot is standard comedy fare, and the editing keeps the comedy from hitting with the punch it deserves, but Kristen Wiig keeps it afloat; she's lovable, full of character, and believably flawed. On another note: If they were trying to break out with a female-lead bro-comedy-styled movie acceptable across all genders (which it does pretty well) they should have shied away from the penis-shrinking theme of Weddings.

Kristen Wiig finally gets the leading role she deserves and excels, while the ensemble around her is equally strong, particularly Maya Rudolph and Melissa McCarthy. Films that come out of the Apatow Company are usually always funny, but it's the ones with heart that are truly memorable. Even so, I was still laughing out loud more than usual. This may be one of, if not the best of them all.

It's the heart breaking story of a girl that has to learn to grow up a little. I find it a little insulting that this movie is up for an Academy Award for Screenplay. Was Anchorman nominated? Was The 40 Year Old Virgin nominated? Was Superbad nominated? All of those are better comedies. But, but, but girls wrote this one. Isn't that in itself sexist. If a woman does something a man does than it's better because they're inferi....whoa! Slow it down there Academy.

I didn't laugh, I didn't smile, I didn't care for the characters and started to play with my dogs on the couch while my wife continued watching by the end. It's maybe not quite the revolutionary film that some tried to claim when it came out, but it's undoubtedly a great comedy. The effort put in to developing all the characters is what sets it apart from most movies like it. Wiig excels in the lead role, nailing the comedy just as much as she does the dramatic parts. The breakout star is Melissa McCarthy, and for good reason. She's hillarious, and dominates every second she's on screen.

Here's the thing: whilst I can appreciate the writing and performance that goes into a comedy, if you don't laugh you don't laugh. It's not unfunny and there are some great set-pieces. However, I found Annie story sad and depressing, which blotted the humour. Give it a try, comedy is subjective after all. Also, Roy from the IT crowd is in this. I found that hilarious.

It's like Sex&The City for men. And by that I mean characters are shallow, boring, stereotypes, PLUS it has as much shit, vomit and sex jokes as you could possibly want. Only small portion of this film could be described as 'chick-flick', but that's the part I found worthwhile. Wiig is very likeable. Some actual jokes (not involving bodily fluids) were alright, so yea, it's watchable. I hope women actually doesn't relate to this film in any way...

Unbelievably overrated. It has a few scenes that are memorably hysterical and well done, especially the whole plane sequence, which is the highlight of the film, but the wild swings into depressingly serious territory, the unfunny gross-out humor, and the whole way the film is stitched together render it very disjointed and painfully average overall.

More humorous and hilarious Wiig gave a great performance and Chris O'Dowd was a fantastic male lead (as close as you get in this anyway). All the characters and performances were realistic. Has a good spread of laughs, & is carried brilliantly by the supurb Wiig, who on her own earns this movie most of its marks. There is a distinct lack of purpose, with sub-plots forgotten about, & focus on the bridemaids group dynamic sadly drifting towards average rom-com fare towards the end. McCartney essentially plays a female Galifianakis, which worked well enough! It was refreshing to see a female driven comedy that didn't fall into & play on all the same old marketing stereotypes & gags.

This is the first movie that i have ever felt less inteligent after having watched it. The fact that this movie did so well at the box office and that so many people really liked it is a sad social commentary on the world of today. In full this is so enjoyable and genuinely charming that I honestly cannot remember the little things that annoyed me along the way, even though I remember there were some. Don't mistake this for a simple Hangover-for-chicks-flick, Bridesmaids is it's own thing, and it is well-crafted. I was in for an average chick-flick, but "Briedsmaids" defies easy labeling -in fact, it is more like the female equivalent to "The Hangover", with outrageous gross-out gags and fun characters. Although the humor is uneven, when it works, it can become truly hilarious, as Wiig emerges as a talented comedienne. She actually made me care enough for her character that I didn't even mind the typical corny stuff they failed to avoid (including life-advancing baking and a carrot-loving Irish cop).

These women are shallow, flaky, and self-involved creatures. They also puke on each other's heads, poop in the street, and absolutely lose their frigging minds after just the slightest sip of alcohol. The movie's predictable as all hell, but it's actually not that bad. It's got more heart than you might expect, and as far as raunchy comedies go, there's a lot more cartoonish, annoying stuff out there. So, yeah, it's fine. Wiig's got plenty of big screen leading lady appeal.

A bit more of a traditional rom-com than what the Apatow Company usually churns out, but then again it's far more filthy than the forgettable fare usually aimed at women. The cast is great on all fronts, and hopefully the runaway success of this film prompts Wiig to leave SNL sooner rather than later. While it eventually follows the well-worn rom-com trail, it earns its cutesy moments through real heartfelt scenes and some well-played drama. Chris O'Dowd is just awesome. Needs more Ellie Kemper.

Maybe I'm not the target audience for this "galmance" version of The Hangover, but whether that's the case or not, I feel like the star of Bridesmaids, the magnificent Kristin Wiig, just isn't that versatile when it comes to acting, and she's the best this flick had to offer. She's a brilliant comedienne, and this movie had some true gut-busters, but the bottom line is there just wasn't any meat to the thing. Going from gag to gag became tiresome. Weak!

Although it sounds awfully lazy and crude to throw a cast of women into absurd situations involving sex, drugs, body waste, and reckless driving, it certainly got me howling. Wiig's best-friendship is genuine, and I'm glad the film acknowledges that she was a bitch, but her redemption should've been as extreme as the situations that got her to rock bottom in order for me to buy it. This could have been cemented as a new respectable type of chick flick, but the third act falls into tropeville.

I'm the last person to criticize somebody for enjoying a chick-flick. If a movie is good, I'll watch it regardless of the intended audience. With that said, 'Bridesmaids' is pretty far from a chick-flick. The topic and the cast may have you thinking otherwise, but nobody falls down in this movie just to pop back up and shout "I'm okay!" Instead, they poop. There is a love story with a predictable formula, but it's pretty much there to keep Annie moving forward, rather than getting her hitched.

Kristen Wiig carries the movie. Her and O'Dowd are really good, and frankly it would have been better if it was just a Rom-Com with the two of them. McCarthy has a few good lines, but mostly the jokes are either overly cringey or overly raunchy/gross (which usually I don't have a problem with, but here they're just not funny). It's not terrible by any means, it's just nowhere near special enough to deserve the hype it received.

It's raunchy, way more fun than I anticipated it being and delivers huge laughs even if you can see most of them coming from miles away. The only redeeming quality that the film has comes in the face of Melissa McCarthy who is sublime with a perfect feel for comedic timing and laugh-out-loud delivery. Her problem is actually with the way her scenes are written, which doesn't give her too much screen time and the opportunity to really develop her character and deliver jokes to the best of her abilities, but she is rather - in big part of her screen time - buried under the execution of mediocre and plainly dull "comedic" scenes.

W4E2P1S2V2M1A2R3. I over-ranked it at first, because it is just a great movie. But the comedy is a little forced at times (if still hilarious), and the premise is pretty run-of-the-mill. Just a quality, watchable comedy, but nothing transcendent.
