I kept typing "Bridge of Chucky" and wish that was real. John Ritter is a real dick in this and oh wait, heh "sorry Jack, Chucky's back" works again. Katherine Heigl has a big head.

Outside of the original, this is easily my favorite film in the "Child's Play" series. Call it nostalgia, call it a guilty pleasure, but I have always had a thing for this sequel...and Jennifer Tilly too because of it. Interestingly, you can definitely see flashes of "Freddy vs. Jason"(2003) in the style here from Ronny Yu. Although the movie may not have aged exactly well, with its dated "metal" sensibilities and pop-culture references, somehow all that, only cemented my feelings on the movie.

I mean it gets some extra points over Child's Play 3 because it gets what it is: a shitty, over-the-top sequel to some good films. Some of its off-kilter humor lands but that's about all I can say for it. Acting is worst in the series, and Jennifer Tilly is insufferable.

Chucky smokes weed, rocks out to White Zombie, and has sex. This ain't your dad's Chucky. Jennifer Tilly is a great addition to this series, and I do like the direction of taking this series towards comedy. It works better than it did in the Nightmare series.

Chucky gets lucky is the tag line for this movie, but if you see how things turn out for him, that isn't the case. I'll admit, I love these movies. They are a real guilty pleasure for me. This was hard to rate because it really ISN'T a good movie, but I still had a ton of fun watching it. It really doesn't have any scary parts at all, but it does have some good lines delivered and some excellent gore. It even has a doll related love scene that is timid compared to Team America World Police...

After the fiasco of C.P 3, Chucky was finally updated in 1998 for the post-Scream horror world. What seemed smart at the time now reeks of desperately dated opportunism. B.O.C also tries to appeal to the goth and alternative metal crowd, which only cements its time warp status. Despite its often shameless pandering, the writing and direction are of a higher standard than 2 or 3, and Jennifer Tilly's presence--in both human and doll form--elevates the proceedings considerably.

Having just rewatched this, for the first time in 15 years, I came to the conclusion, that I had to bump it up a few notches on the scale. Not because it has aged well (because: NO), but because in the intervening years, my exposure to truly horrible garbage has expanded my understanding of the term "trash".

Right from the beginning you know they are not taking this seriously because it opens in a police evidence room that contains a hockey and Shatner mask... then Tilly resurrects Chucky using Voodoo For Dummies. Chucky looks pretty awesome with stitches all over his face, and Ronny Yu's eye is much more impressive than previous directors, but most of the doll interactions fall a bit flat.

Fails as a horror movie, but succeeds as a horror satire. I found this movie to be quite funny; it makes references to many classic horror movies, from Halloween to Friday the 13th to Hellraiser. The more familiar you are with the horror genre, the more enjoyable this film is, I think.

First Chucky film after Scream, so of course they would go berserk on meta here. This is wild, but I think the self-referential writing/directing feels somewhat lazy (Bride of Frankenstein scene, cute, but so dire) and too sleazy -- although it's what makes this fun, with those flashy murders (waterbed one is my favorite) and mean-spirited vibes (Chucky smoking weed, listening to a White Zombie tune, crazy couple fight at the RV near the finale). Cool last shots. Wanted more diopter ones, btw.

Change of direction for the Chucky franchise leans in to the comedy mixed with gross-out killing scenes; it's a fine line to walk successfully, and unfortunately the film is neither funny enough nor scary enough to work. At its best while Tilly is still in her human form; she brings a surprising credibility to her interactions with the Chucky doll and had the whole movie continued along this line, it may have been more enjoyable. Heigl and Stabile are barely there as the ostensible heroes.

Child's Play 4: Bride of Chucky. Tiffany was Charles Lee Ray's girlfriend and one day decides to revive the Chucky doll with her sweetheart's soul. But when she learns that Chucky never intended to marry her, she gets angry and locks him up. Chucky escapes and uses voodoo practices to get Tiffany's soul into a doll too. To both return as human beings, the two dolls must go to Chucky's grave to unearth the necklace Ray was carrying when he died. They decide to secretly travel with a young couple.

Bride of Chucky quickly provides an answer to the question, "what ever happened to industrial music?" I can't believe this is from the same director as the movie Fearless. It was fun to see nods to horror franchise villains scattered throughout the film. I am going through the Child's Play movies for the first time. Bride of Chucky seems to have made a tonal shift that I think is continued through today.

they took the horror out of the chucky movie and made it pretty much a parody of the originals. He's still killing people but its not scary. There is toung in cheek humour that never really hits any the right notes but its still fun too watch chucky do what he does.

Chucky's back and Tilly's got him! Under veteran Hong Kong fantasy/horror helmer Yu's direction, Chucky returns with a vengeance in what easily rates as the series's best entry. Disappointing use of Jennifer, since she doesn't get enough screen time in her body which is reason enough to see the movie anyway, women this stacked are too good to be missed.
