Abit weird, really sweet and it's funny. It was an enjoyable 90 minutes seeing this oddball movie. Both Brian and Hazel characters are great too.

Brian and Charles is a shallow allegory for a parent creating, raising and releasing their child. The film aims for (and hits) quirkiness at every point but is never laugh-out-loud funny. The bullying subplot is tired. Earl's goofiness is a little off-putting and Hayward's portrayal of Charles is less robotic and more autistic. Still, amongst the verdant Welsh farmland masquerading dilapidation, the film delivers the odd moment of sweetness.

Simple and cute, but quite shallow and frustrating at times.

This is a delightfully British film about an eccentric inventor who is a bit of a loner and his friendship with a recently created robot/AI creature who chooses the name Charles. Its quite endearing, even though Brian himself isn't necessarily the most likeable of people on first look. He has a bit of a shabby look about him, perhaps slightly like Joe Wilkinson but not as rude...its a PG film after all(!). It has a nice quirky feel to it and I liked the dialogue and the plot. Its quite sweet.

If Wallace and Gromit was a genre, this would be the most Wallace and Gromit movie outside of course Wallace and Gromit--and all without being a claymation! Ultimately, it's a cute, if sappy, family-friendly movie. Highly watchable but isn't exactly anything new.

While it doesn’t quite reach its full potential, “Brian and Charles” is an enjoyable watch thanks to its endearing characters and unique point of view. It’s low-key, but undeniably sweet.

David Earl steals the show in this gentle, humorous, but not laugh out loud, remake of Boyhood. Except the boy is a robot. Robothood.
