I had a review for this but I recently read John Book's review on IMDB and I can't help but quote it here, because it's far more profound than anything I could ever offer. On character Kelly meeting two breakdancers (Turbo and Ozone), John writes, "One of them finds her attractive, the other chooses to pop his way through life." Excellent.

Nothing makes me happier than to know this made more money than Sixteen Candles while in less theatres. This is honest and just a pleasure to watch. Oozing with racial and class subtext.

Sublime, beautiful trash. What was in the water during the 80s to produce such amazingly sincere film? I love the characters, the colors, the 80s hip hop, the follow-your-dreams 'angst', all the men with earrings, studded leather and crop tops, the anti-white bourgeois subtext. What a beautiful world this film captures. TURBO and Ozone (who looks like the child of Prince and John Waters) are two of my favourite characters in film ever.

People in stupid outfits dancing to bridge the gap between the upper and lower classes. Starring a girl who has three guys who are into her during the film but is to obtuse to realize it and two guys named Ozone and Turbo. I can't not recommend this movie because it has to be seen to be believed, but it's pretty terrible.

The sequel is so much better. Like night and day better.

Jean-Claude Van Damme & Ice-T are pretty much the only reason to watch this. A couple of the dance scenes are okay.

It's a vibe for sure. Every punk in 2011 looked exactly like Ozone in this movie. Could pair nice with something like Times Square

One of Cannon's more notorious efforts is a so-so 'follow your dream' genre entry; silly dialogue and characterisations aplenty (love the judges at the climactic audition!), but at least the film appears to be sincere about its intentions, and is served adequately by its cast of dancers. Highlight: Christopher McDonald's brutal telephone negotiation montage with perm.

This is the 80s in every way, from the costumes and music and break-dancing to the tied cliched plot premised on the idea that talent and determination can break down any barriers with a little heart. The acting is poor and the narrative thin, but it's not too bad, given all those things.

Imagine Flashdance, re-created by the cast of Saved By the Bell. Yup, that's about it. But worth seeing if you've never seen break dancing before.

If you like cheesy dance movies, this one is amazing. Awesomely campy dialogue with an awkward white girl tryna act "street", a bunch of really damn good b-boys, Ice T, and a bunch of ghetto kids showin whitey wassup. And hell, it was kind of prophetic, nowadays there are plenty of hip-hop dance crews doing choreographed stage shows and making loads of money. Only complaint is the music is inconsistent. In the hip-hop club, it's great, but there's a lot of crap too.

In OZ, it's title is Breakdance and I think it's quite telling that Golum & Globus made BOTH films within six months of each other. Let's be honest, BOTH films are cheeze and processed cheeze at that, but pull up a pew and get ready to pop lock and a whole stack of dance fu. Plus there's no plot to get in the way of all that cool music...

Just see it. It doesn't matter whether it's good or not. Everyone needs this delicious little taste of the boom of break dancing in the 80's. I'll tell you this much, it's no Electric Boogaloo! Ugh!

Probably the only movie involving sweaty break-dancers that I can actually enjoy seeing. Turbo is the man!
