Critics trashed this one, but I enjoyed it. Wayne still had the screen presence and swagger, and it was a decent crime action.

Fluffily entertaining action film feels like Wayne wanting to do a sanitised DIRTY HARRY; while stunt performers are occasionally too apparent, Wayne is actually very good here delivering an effortlessly charming and relaxed performance, finding the perfect sparring partner in hilariously officious Attenborough. Ultimately nothing more than a pleasant time-waster, but with a terrific supporting cast and a glamorous London as backdrop, it's hard to see how this could have been done better.

Anybody else but John Wayne, and this movie would not work at all.

Apart from John Wayne's presence, this movie doesn't have much to offer with poor acting skills and average storyline.

McQ was a better Wayne cop flick imo.

John Wayne as a fish-out-of-water American cop in Britain---sure has all the ingredients for a great film, right? Unfortunately I was very underwhelmed. When Wayne is shooting and punching he's at his best, but he spends most of his time here walking around and investigating. There's a big age difference with the female lead but at least they didn't get romantically involved. Fav scene: figuring out the door booby trap and the toilet trap.

Hickox has some cool ideas, but seems to not really know what to do with them. Tonally pretty chaotic, but fun.

John Wayne does senior citizen's "Dirty Harry" in London, which is hardly as hilarious or as awesome as it sounds.

Seems to be an advertisement for London disguised as a movie.
