Boyz in the Wood is the right blend of satire on the DofE award with ludicrous antics throughout, culminating on a rather pathetic (i.e evoking pathos as opposed to miserable) speech that sums up (albeit satirically) the generational-class divide in the UK. Enough funny moments and charm throughout keep the teenage protagonists from becoming too annoying, and the budding friendship from feeling too clichéd. An enjoyable film, with a good use of music.

Its emphasis on rabbit poo meant I was destined to love this. But I knew it was special in the opening minutes: it quickly established these boyz with their mannerisms (slouched, disinterested) and the excellent usage of "Ain't it Funny." Used music well in general. It's hilarious, charming, witth and the boys have great chemistry. Flawlessly paced. A bit eccentric but not overboard, juggles its genres well. Also has some really great scenic shots of the Highlands so it's a little artsy too.

Funny, likeable leading quartet turns a paint-by-numbers horror comedy into something more. Set in the highlands of England, three troublemakers and a nerd get hunted down by two maniacs. A wandering minibus, rabbit poo, rap-loving farmers and powdered food all combine to hilarious effect.

Top badass moment? I used to lead residential projects with lots of D of E candidates on them, this was an uncomfortable reminder of what I’ve tried very, very hard to forget. With more great lines than the UK's entire rail network, this is a silly but also really, really funny movie. Sadly, you can tell it wasn't really filmed in the Scottish Highlands, as there're more than 20 minutes when it’s not actually foggy, raining or snowing. 1 chainsaw (a tiny animated one), no cats or decapitations.

Deli gibi eğlenmek istiyorsanız, size direkt Get Duked!'u öneriyorum. Benim için, bu yılın en iyi filmlerinden. Kuzey İskoçya kırsalı, bol uyuşturucu, bolca hip-hop, kafadan kırık yaşlılar ve baştan sona devam eden bir kaçış. Eksantrik, absürt ve kesinlikle başarılı. Kaçırmayın.

For the record, the Highlands isn't a bunch of tiny villages where nothing happens and the crime of the century is a bread thief. And the Duke of Ed award is fuck all like this. BUT it's a cracking film.

If Edgar Wright had directed STAND BY ME as a riff on THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME, he may well have ended up with this swing-for-the-fences black comedy - terrific, funny performances from the four leads matched by some expert drollery from the adult cast make this a winner - abrupt shift to more "serious matters" in the final reel feels a little too on-the-nose, over-explaining themes that would have been better left abstract. A genuinely charming surprise.
