I guess they figured out that the East Side Kids didn't have enough personality to carry any kind of movie series so they hire two of the Dead End Kids (Bobby Jordan & Leo Gorcey) and Sunshine Sammy (most famous for Harold Lloyd films) to give the second entry more of a reason to stay tuned. And it is more fun, but it's a weird mix of crime and spook house which makes it a uneven experience. But if one decide to take it as the light-hearted time waster it is, this is perfectly watchable.
