Born Strong

One of those serendipitously timed documentaries that happen to cover an unusually exciting edition of an annual event. Aside from its action movie-esque rollercoaster ride of a climax, Born Strong also has a surprisingly interesting cast of characters. Didn't expect those guys to be that engaging. Kudos to Hall for taking his health seriously and sticking to his word. Mark Henry was a brilliant choice for a talking head, but a few more voices wouldn't have hurt. 8th film of 2018.

If you are interested in sports, it's not too shabby but nothing amazing to see here.

While clearly a sports documentary, there is a very movie like structure where four contenders from four different backgrounds are introduced and brought together to compete for the crown to be the strongest man on the planet. Loses a little when one of the contenders is forced to withdraw and is marginalized for the remainder of the feature but a dramatic climax satisfyingly concludes this look at the biggest and strongest athletes on the planet.
