Although it's hardly a noir masterpiece, it's an enjoyable film. The script (by a young Robert Altman) is tight and lean, with some fun bits of business. The photography is not very memorable, but it gets the job done and there are a few unusual close-ups. It's nice to see Tierney in a role that allows him to stretch a little, and he has a lively chemistry with Priscilla Lane. The whodunit aspect of the film isn't that satisfying but it's got some nice details and is sufficiently entertaining.

"Bodyguard" centers on a protagonist who's as tough as they come, marked by a penchant for dubious choices and supported by a girlfriend whose loyalty runs so deep she'd cross legal lines for him. Despite its brisk pace and action-filled moments, the film's plot struggles to hold up its end, leaving me wanting more.

Sweet Priscilla Lane's final movie! And I've seen them all! Good actress and quite a looker. Sad to know I won't discover any more movies where she's featured.Bodyguard (1948) was enjoyable lightweight "noir", as her and Lawrence Tierney go on a investigative journey with someone trying to stop them. B-plus level ambition, which is the type of productions she usually appeared in, so she signs off in a respectable manner with a entertaining suspense movie.

Lawrence Tierney and Priscilla Lane are an unlikely pairing, but they make it work. It's got a varied tone for such a short film, and makes it work amazingly well, going from light fun to tense mystery.
