This is not much of a movie. The big draw here is the set of European actresses (plus Raquel Welch) who play the wives, but this is really a giant tease. There's some mild nudity on display, and a heated Nathalie Delon-Sybil Danning pairing, but this really isn't a Euro-sleaze variation on Charles Perrault's folk tale. It's far too ugly a film to don that mantle, and typically, Alexander and Ilya Salkind can't resist bogging it down with terrible humour.

Horribly unfunny screenplay that's brought down by Richard Burton's nonexistent comedic chops, random Nazi references and an uncomfortably lengthy hunting scene with genuine animal kills. The only notable mention is Ennio Morricone's score that Hans "Master of the Four Chord Soundtrack" Zimmer ripped off for Sherlock Holmes. That and the fact that Joey Heatherton can sound more like a squeaky dog toy than even Melanie Griffith.

Strange and trashy fun.
