Blue Crush

Gorgeously shot and generally well-performed -- though it doesn't manage to escape the cliches, it's good filmmaking.

Stockwell did very good job with Crazy/Beautiful and is continuing to ride on the same wave. The plot is not a something to mention. All scenes with sea (ocean) are the best and you may also have crush for surfing.

An ok surfer flick featuring some good looking girls in bikinis. The all too familiar romance plot doesn't help out the film.

A bit of a no-brainer, but with such a feelgood aftertaste! The soundtrack alone just fills your head with summer.

Kate Bosworth should spend more time in a bikini and less in the role of Lois Lane. If not for her constant state of undress, you could subtract, let's say, 10 points from that score. On the other hand, if she had been gratuitously topless (not for long, just thirty seconds would have been fine), you could have added 10 points.

Decent "popcorn flick".

A very mundane film about a group of female surfers.

Amiable bubblegum can't quite transcend its material like Stockwell's previous CRAZY/BEAUTIFUL, but it's notable again how he takes hackneyed story elements and subtly subverts them, with the social conflicts between Bosworth and Davis going into some genuinely unpredictable areas - we're not talking neorealism here, but certainly more effort is made to make their burgeoning relationship more convincing than required. Stunning surf scenes no doubt looked even better on the really big screen.

With a soundtrack featuring NERD & Lenny Kravitz this was obviously meant to be an MTV sports movie like Varsity Blues & Bring It On. It provides cool technical info: I never knew there was a telephone number for surfers to get news on waves. But sexism and class consciousness elevates things. By day the poor lead works as a maid in Hawaii's hospitality industry, yet yearns for female representation in surfing. It also uses locals for some great docudrama style acting. Recommended.

Despite the review, I vaguely remember mildly enjoying this film.

The scenery is gorgeous and the island life is depicted well. Not the most intelligent flick, but it looks good.

So sue me. I love the soundtrack, the ocean cinematography is gorgeous and the tale of a young woman who finds mad success (and love if you care) as a competition surfer is pure wish fulfillment for me.

Terrible flick but it gets points for featuring hot chicks in bikinis pretty much the whole time.

Digital faces plastered onto the stuntmen creeped me out at times.

Surprisingly alright. I really wanted to dislike the movie but it's too well-made to hate. While the plot hits all the predictable cliches of the genre, the surf scenes are captured beautifully and Bosworth and Davis give performances good enough that the film works in spite of itself. Still nothing to write home about, but much better than it ought to be.

Nothing earth-shattering, but I found this to be surprisingly entertaining....with some good surfing photography.

The three main chicks are really irritating; the only redeeming element to the film is the male romantic interest.

I had not planned on liking this movie much; but my granddaughter was very interested in surfing and so I watched for her. What a fun movie and the photography was outstanding.

How do you make a movie about surfing and chicks boring? You make "Blue Crush." The day I saw this, I also saw "XXX." It was not a good day at the movies.

The story may be a little worn, but the camera work and the scenery are lovely.

Hot girls in bikinis

Horrible film that even surf fans probably won't like. All three leads are laughably bad, but aren't to blame as the script is a giant bag of bad clichés.

This movie is what all film should be.

I would love to give this movie a 70, because of the fact that the girls walk around in bikinis for the WHOLE THING, but it's really not that good of a movie. Decent action scenes, watching people surf (and sometimes fall) is always entertaining, but not a very good plot-line.

Kate Bosworth before anorexia. She was pretty hot.

Sure the girls are nice to look at, but a good movie that does not make. Especially if you are a Midwestern mainlander and don't have any emotional connection to surfing.

Blue Crush is decent, but unamazing for any guy viewer. Surfing and bikinis are generally cool, but overall, girls, see it if you want, just leave your guy at home. Ugh!

The ambience of the movie provides most of the positives from the beach to the surfer living. The story is throwaway.
