Blood Red Sky

Well... I dislike movies with zombies and vampires. I also dislike movies with airplanes hijacking ...but for some weird reason I loved this movie. It was very entertaining (despite the big amount of directing errors) and I spend a lovely night watching it.

An unwell woman struggles and sacrifices to save her child from external threats. The decision to view this was made after several days of insomnia, on the grounds of being too exhausted to do anything else, but it's still surprising that in 2021 it's possible to make a movie with this understanding of the physics of depressurisation. One wonders if the filmmakers actually expected audiences to feel something as the film reaches its climax, or whether it's just automatic to write as if they did.

Started out promising and devolved pretty seriously during the second half. Still worth a watch for genre enthusiasts I suppose. You know the "shit goes awry on a plane" genre. 5.4 for me.

It's a superficially fresh take on vampires, but as it plays out I began to feel like I was watching "Snakes On a Plane" only with no Sam Jackson and eighty percent less yelling and swearing. Once you omit the yelling and swearing you really shoot yourself in the foot.

Too long, too turbulent, and a boring flight.

An interesting take on the tired vampire theme. Must've looked more exciting on paper though.

Classic case where the concept -- overnight heist vampire horror terrorist thriller -- looks way better on paper than on screen, mostly because Thorwarth seems more worried in giving the protagonist an arc we care for -- and we do -- but forgets everything else -- that psycho villain is easily dismissed, action bits are so poorly imagined and put together. Count me on board on #teamSnakesonaPlane.

A blend of thriller tropes that still finds ways to present itself originally. Genuinely intense and scary at times and often silly and flimsy. Great performance by the actors and organic plot points keep it afloat even with its long runtime.

Points for creativity. The movie dug too deep into clichés, but replacing the traditional action hero with a vampire in a typical hostage movie actually unexpectedly works - and entertains. Could have been 30 minutes shorter though.

A refreshing idea as far as vampire movies go, but still carrying a lot of other stereotypes like the deliberately unlikable passengers, the ridiculously animated sociopath, and the flashbacks within flashbacks. Sometimes the pacing doesn't let the movie go all the way with its suspense. That being said, the story is very strong, Eightball's flamboyancy translates VERY well once he's infected, and I was genuinely touched by the end.

Interesting idea and it left one wondering where it was going and how it would end. Vampires are often done in tv and movies, but this take on them was fun. There are however some bits which seems to be a lot of back and forth in the plane. Also a lot of struggling against biting jaws and of mom trying to hold her instincts, which could get old.

Felt like the movie trudged on for quite a while. I'm not a big fan of vampire movies as a whole even though this one has a new spin on things which was interesting enough to keep me through the movie.

A mildly entertaining mix of 30 Days of Night and Snakes on a Plane (minus the humor). It doesn’t really aim to be scary, with maybe one tense scene in the entire film. It’s more so an action-thriller with a vampire as a lead, which is a shame as some more focus on scares could’ve helped this quite a bit. There aren’t many likable characters, but there’s a few decent scenes, and the premise may be enough for some.
