While I admit my experience with the genre is somewhat limited, this might just be the best pro-FDA bible-thumping marijuana-moral-panicking vampiric-turkey horror movie ever made.

A Vietnam vet gets involved with a hippie chick with access to tons of dope, and when he eats some genetically altered turkey the day after a drug bender, it somehow transforms him into a blood drinking monster with a giant turkey head who feasts on drug addicts and dealers. That's right. A killer with a giant turkey head. Features a ton of pointless stock footage of turkeys milling around, and every kill is accompanied by the sounds of frantic gobble-gobbling. Entertaining garbage.

Imagine Reefer Madness remade by Troma and you're about halfway to fathoming the pure insanity that is Blood Freak. With a pace that would make even Ed Wood yawn and effects that would make even H.G. Lewis go "Oh, COME ON!!!", this is one of the most transcendently idiotic pictures ever made (Silent Night Deadly Night 2 notwithstanding). Watch it with someone you loathe.

Wholly incompetent, yet undeniably charming. Highlights include: some convincing delirium tremens from Steve Hawkes, a cigarette-induced coughing fit during a serious monologue about addiction, a paper mache turkey mask, a "reaction shot stock scream techno remix," and a rapist with a receding hairline getting his foot severed by a circular saw.

It's a Wonderful Life, if Jimmy Stewart were turned into a drug-addict turkey-monster with a taste for human blood.

Kind of impossible to rank - it's hilariously enjoyable but completely and utterly inept. Seriously, the production values and pacing make Ed Wood look like Orson Welles; but it's certainly one of the gems of so-bad-it's-good cinema.

A god awful movie, with hilariously bad acting, camera work (shaky cam), sound and story. Re-uses the same scream in one scene, which is just weird. Watch this movie with friends, or avoid like shit.

This is abysmally bad. The acting is horrid, the writing is worse, & the sound is so awful that some of the dialogue is outright unintelligible. Not that that matters much, because the only reason anybody should ever watch this is for the hilarious turkey mask Steve Hawkes wears for half the runtime. Recycled sound effects & music clips, a pace that somehow makes 80 minutes feel like 100, & a nonsense moral message. Lame 70's schlock that's famous for one reason- but it's a damn funny reason.

While we have I Am Here....Now, the 70s had Blood Freak, with its similar usage of fake blood and the same screaming sound effect

Some of this gets dull and tedious which keeps this from being a bizarro classic. Otherwise it's such crazy mess that it ought to be seen.

Unbelievably cheap in every sense. Recommended for Herschell Gordon Lewis fans, like me.
