Blitz Wolf

Militaristic with a twinge of racism, but it's to be expected from a WW2 propaganda film. It's really quite funny and keeps it up to the end, though, a quality which many of these films don't have.

Where has the art of the war-time propaganda gone? Must we keep on watching and reading and hearing the bland and boring nonsensical drivel that we get fed upon 24/7 nowadays about how bad Russia is, how soon they'd run out of munition and how soon Putin would die? This is an outcry to the media of today: PLEASE WATCH BLITZ WOLF AND TAKE NOTES. #bringbackwarpropaganda #artofpropaganda

Tex Avery does his bit for the war effort by re-telling the Three Little Pigs with Hitler as the Big Bad Wolf. It's fine, but it feels like the propaganda aspect of this restrains the comedy a bit too much.

Hugely energetic, coked-up practically, as can be expected from Avery. It's very purely about WW2 even more than most war toons; virtually all the gags are inextricably tied to the era, and so have dated to obsolescence, and that ephemeral quality makes it a more effective trip back in time than other similar works. Departs from the message of the folk tale in one interesting way: here the "straw house" and "stick house" pigs aren't portrayed as lazy.
