I don't think there really is any story at all here. McLaren shows us that he's just as interested in being an abstract filmmaker as Stan Brakhage, only he puts a bit more effort into his creations. He's proving to have a batting average about as good as Brakhage's, too, if not better

NFB SHORT A DAY #20: This one had me bugging out in an off-putting way. I will of course be revisiting it repeatedly.

a bit disjointed and spacious for me to get into it rhythmically, but still pretty neat, with some beautiful visuals.

Lot's of nice little bits and it doesn't go long, but there's not quite enough cohesion or flow to make it memorable.

Frustrating to watch due to its "blinking" nature. Still frames look fine, but in motion it sucks; that's not how animation works.

You know, "making it up as you go along" could actually describe almost all of these films, but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Here it doesn't. Some of the bird-themed bits are okay, but the more abstract stuff is dull.
