Bláznova kronika

It's easy to see why Zeman was a major influence on directors like Burton and Gilliam; his mix of social satire, fantasy and comedy blends live action with matte shots and special effects to original effect, recalling the work of Monty Python yet preceeding them by decades. The film making is fluid and there are serious themes being explored beneath the frivolity, such as the absurdity of war and the role of fate in shaping human lives, but it lacks clarity and narrative momentum.

Karel Zeman sinema tarihinde hak ettiği değeri görememiş en mühim yönetmenlerden biri şüphesiz. Kurduğu görsel dilin bir benzerine rastlamak pek mümkün değil.
