A rather odd movie, but an historical document of some importance. Hyper-stylized sets and lighting actually kept reminding me of a Technicolor "Cabinet of Dr. Caligari", and if you like modern French ballet, this is for you. The choreography strikes me more like watered-down Balanchine. Maurice Chevalier is the quintessentially worldly-French narrator.
