Yes, much like birds, people are full of shit. (As is this film.)

Starts out well enough, as a sort of overtly festival-ready, if schematic, update of the Lost in Translation/What Time Is It There 'postmodern life is alienating but romantically connected" subgenre, before diving (literally) headfirst into... fuck knows what? An overly literal interpretation of a title combined with oddly off-kilter English dialogue that sounds obviously translated from French (potential shades of Assayas here, but infinitely less self-aware), either way bizarrely unsatisfying.

Bizarre. The opening of the movie, the start for the story last way too long. But as soon as it took off it was very pleasant, mind provocating and funny. Some part could be shorter though. A nice message.

there's something profound in this movie's examination of a very modern existential crisis, where unfiltered human connection has become increasingly rare and everyday life is constricting to the point of anxiety, particularly with the increasing meta-ness of its overtly voyeuristic second half; for sure, this is a movie about the yearnings of moviegoers. unfortunately it's all rendered a little pat and cute with such broad, indulgent metaphors and this saggy script.

First part: B+ material, C- writing. Second part: A+ concept, A- execution, genuinely impressive filmmaking. If you're intrigued, read absolutely nothing about the film beforehand. Ending's not a dealbreaker but still completely unnecessary.
