Big Town After Dark

William C. Thomas movie series of Big Town is a big snooze. And Big Town After Dark (1947) is no different. Very talky, little action. It's based on a radio show, so perhaps not surprising. But they really should have done more to make things exciting. Like really A LOT more.

One of a series of flicks based on the long-running radio show "Big Town", and one can, in fact, easily imagine the chatty script as a radio play with no picture. It might even be an improvement... the whole thing looks like a forgettable TV show. "Perry Mason" was infinitely more stylish, visually, and far more imaginatively plotted. Still, pleasant enough entertainment, with a cast that feels like a collection of character actors.
