Big Nothing

It has taken me almost six months to write this review. I've sat down almost ten times with the intention of crossing the damn title off my list, but after a few minutes or so of typing out a sentence, deleting it, typing out a sentence, deleting it, typing out a sentence, and then finally deleting it, I usually give up and move on. One might think that act alone would be as telling as an actual review. For the sake of my sanity, I'm going to say they'd be right and end this charade today.

The title Big Nothing is in reference to how much of this movie you will remember a month after seeing it.

Conveniently, the title says it all !

A refreshing movie about problems that keep getting more complicated and perhaps about love? A very nice plot and characters. Seeing crime as something that moves, spreads, dies and goes from ordinary people to ordinary people is something that lifts the film up above mediocre.

A surreal escapade into a world portrayed using a whole host of characters who have more in familiar with adult comic book villains than anything else. It makes for an interesting mix, with Schwimmer being thrown into gradually more and more surreal situations, mostly with the encouragement of Pegg. As the Big Nothing gradually degenerates into madness and the situations get more and more out of hand you find youreself intrigued by such a mad universe, although the ending feels a little hollow.

Big Nothing is never anything more than mildly amusing and the number of twists and turns make it feel a little convoluted. The style is a little amateurish, with split frames and loud punk-pop songs. Nevertheless the film still remains moderately entertaining thanks to solid performances from Eve, Pegg and Schwimmer.

Nice little dark comedy. Could be a lot better though, Schwimmer is no lead with his mask of a face.

Standard Tarantino knockoff that eschews the non-linear plot in favor of twist after twist. None of it feels real and even the characters given back stories act completely detached from them.

Not that bad and funny at times with a bit of thinking at the end

Pretty fun crime thriller, lots of twists, things keep getting more and more fucked up as the movie goes on. Almost everyone ends up dead by the end of the movie, most of which are in kind of random ways. It's one of those movies that ends with a neat bow tying everything up. The editing was a bit weird, at times it felt like Edgar Wright wannabe. David Schwimmer had no emotion as usual, and Simon Pegg had some weird American accent. Also this has one of the worst posters of all time.

Really enjoyed this flick, the comic relief moments were well spaced, and once it gets going you move to the edge of your seat and don't move back until the credits! Schwimmer and Pegg are outstanding, as expected, pulling some really dark, intense scenes off to perfection.

a lively situational comedy that draws most of it's appeal from a supremely solid script, and some bang up performances. it's one of those comedies where nearly all the laughter comes from things going wrong, with a little bit of a step up on the chuckles it would have been simply amazing.

The first half is quite entertaining and has a few solid laughs. The second half is flat and you just wait for the plot to resolve itself. For passing the time.

Watched this purely because of Pegg (since I dislike Schwimmer), and was quite refreshingly surprised by how good it is. Pegg is brilliant as usual, but the writing and soundtrack are also very good. Had some laugh-out-loud funny moments.

Average. I maybe a bit biased here because I dislike David Schwimmer's acting face and his droning voice but this also has the misfortune of not having a cohesive plot or a capable director. The only saving grace here is Simon Pegg, and he is brilliant here, so if you're a fan of Mr Pegg, definitely watch this, if not, then don't.

Do you like plot twists? If so, holy shit do I have a movie for you!

By far one of my favorite dark comedys. At times you'll be laughing and feeling like an asshole for it.

Watched this movie twice and I remember nothing.

Surprisingly good dark comedy featuring much David Schwimmer... Sort of a weak ending, but otherwise pretty great.

Hilarious first two thirds, sadly falls flat quite massively at the end...
