Big Bang Love, Juvenile A

Visually superb, but a non-linear narrative can't hide how shallow the film is.

A very odd film that is difficult to evaluate. Seems to have some elements of Lost Highway in the plot, and does seem, as elsewhere, as if Miike is engaged in an imitation game, but not just with Lynch. I find these to be the most perplexing and incongruous films he makes, even if you recognise the stylistic borrowings.

Visually impressive, poetic, enigmatic, artistic tale of murder set on theatre stage.

I get the feeling Miike covered similar ideas better in Gozu (and probably other works I've not yet seen). It's wrapped in an even more surreal package this time and while my interest was strained at times, there was always some element that would regain my attention. More than anything, it points to the unknowable --- the unanswerable --- and that rainbows are not to be taken lightly.

Até os 30 minutos o filme estava perfeito, mas após isso começou um blablabla sem sentido algum, que não me agradou nem um pouco, mas por outro lado a fotografia e os cenários são excelentes.

Something different than the traditional American concept of a Miike film, Big Bang Love avoids shock value in favor of a fragmented narrative and surreal, sometimes beautiful visuals.
