The only redeeming point of this is that the directors' commentary is way more entertaining than the film; at least they seemed to know they were making a total crapheap.

Even for a low budget, direct to video HP Lovecraft adaptation, it's terrible. Absolutely nothing notable here, just painful to watch.

So bad it's fun to watch and laugh at with friends. This, in my opinion, is a redeeming quality of the film. To be fair I did enjoy the editing during the surreal-horror parts of the film. However it quickly becomes overused. The director's commentary is quite fun to listen to as it seems pretty clear they knew they have no delusions of making a masterpiece. The film actually seems impressive when you learn the script was written in 3 days and the entire movie was shot in 15 days.
