Axel F isn't a great film on technical nor narrative basis, but it is a refreshing throwback to the Beverly Hills Cop franchise and simpler 80's movies in general. The plot here isn't particularly complex but the set-pieces have the dumb, fun vibe that's missing from the recent Fast & Furious entries. There's a bit of subversion with Foley being older & more weary, but Murphy does an great job recapturing the character. Ultimately it's a comfort watch that avoids the usual Netflix pandering.

Rather silly and forgettable. Fun enough to pass some time during a heatwave on a Sunday afternoon.

The first 40 or so minutes are about as successful as any playing the hits belated sequel could possibly be. After that, it's alright.

Serviceable legacy sequel but you can't go home again.

Writers needed some sort of conflict, so let's make up a daughter and all a sudden somehow Axel has been an a****** to her? Oh well, guess that'll never get resolved in the running time of this movie. Or will it?

Honestly gets pretty grating in how often this movie pulls memberberries shit to the point they literally copy plot beats from previous movies solely for that purpose. But I will give it props on virtue that the film is at least putting Axel's character in a different context, even if what that is ends up being extremely trite. Otherwise? This is a pretty middling movie that's content banking on nostalgia than innovating anything this franchise did, which was never that good to begin with.

After the horrible outing of the Coming to America sequel, I didn't expect much from this. But, it was OK. Some nice nostalgia, an OK (not great by any means) storyline, and Eddie playing the part he was probably most born to play.

As a fan of the originals, I quite enjoyed this. The story is whatever, but that was the case in the 80s as well. The movie has a lot of the 80s vibe in general and by that I don't mean that it feels like it's set in the 80s but it feels like an 80s action comedy. In a good way, mostly. Yes, it's a bit clumsy at times and heavily relies on nostalgia but it feels like a surprisingly good Beverly Hills Cop sequel.

whoever decided to shoehorn family drama into this one should be castrated and fed to wild boars

Those that love the originals will either like this one or probably give it a pass. Loved the nostalgic beats, and it was fun to see the gang back together. Murphy also looks 15 yrs younger than he is. He's great. The plot and writing are pretty tepid. The cringe didn't overwhelm though and it's fun enough on the whole. The family drama dynamic could have been restrained a bit as it felt like a messy add-in. 6.3

Loved this character so much -- rewatched the first two a lot back then. Good to see Eddie having fun in a role he really loves, although some of Foley's edgy tricks seem toned down. Nostalgia does feel a bit weird sometimes -- final scene --, the plot couldn't be more predictable, but some of the action material makes up for it -- cop helicopter set piece. Some jokes land -- but I will defend Jupiter Ascending forever. Family drama definitely not and the film certainly didn't need Gordon-Levitt

I have a soft spot for action sequences set in my hometown of L.A. which this movie offers a good selection of, though they vary rather heavily in relative quality. While it's cool that they brought the gang back together after literally four decades, Axel F is perhaps a little too faithful to the original that started it all: it leans heavily on the nostalgic callbacks without much depth to the "what changed over the years" treatment seen in other revivals like Top Gun: Maverick.

This movie is a good throwback, propelled by the return of its star. It’s not quite a movie where you ask yourself why they couldn’t do better than Netflix, but it’s still a movie that feels like it could have easily been a good blockbuster legacy sequel all the same.

Relatively formulaic and unambitious, but in some cases that’s fine - who the fuck wants a deconstruction of Beverly Hills Cop? It’s got the synth score over sneaking/mischief scenes, classic 80s needle drops, Axel, Rosewood, Taggart, mayhem, wisecracks, fake personas, stolen vehicles of all sorts, getting chewed out by police captains, sleazy villains, all that Beverly Hills Cop stuff. I’m just kinda hungry for anything with more practical and less CGI action these days, god damn!

A decent reunion movie that is hampered by the tired and annoyed estranged adult child cliche.

Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F successfully blends elements of a remake and a sequel by featuring both the original cast and new characters. The film retains the action and pacing of the original, but it lacks the energy and wild charm that a young Eddie Murphy brought to the first version. However, it's enjoyable for its nostalgic value, making it a worthwhile watch for fans seeking a trip down memory lane. Despite this, it ultimately doesn't offer any memorable moments.

The plot is weak and the finale shit, but other than that I'm surprised how accurately they could paint their nostalgia - this is a good throwaway 90s flick in feel and texture. Haven't seen many of those in the last 30 years.

Eddie Murphy and the rest of the cast seem to be having a good time in this movie. There are some fun moments and some fun scenes in this film. I wish there would have been some more really funny moments. Overall I would recommend this film.

I didn’t watch any of the originals so wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. Didn’t get that bored. İt knew what it was and played well into it. Don’t expect much, don’t take it seriously and it’s ok.

Decently fun if you like the series. Had the nods to the originals and the 80s in general without going overboard.
