Shortland's prowess behind the camera and Palmer and Riemelt's terrific performances do much to elevate a grubby exploitationer; not that there is anything wrong with grubby exploitationers, but the premise (and evocative title) promise so much more, especially the intriguing co-dependency that develops (Palmer's yo-yoing might have been more interesting if we had a better grip on her motivations). For what it is, a perfectly serviceable pot-boiler, but expectations were definitely higher!

Still somehow ranks low on the list of bad German dates...

On the one hand, there is something innovative here and a kind of true to life depiction of similar kidnapping cases does emerge. But ultimately there is a kind of flatness throughout that numbs the impact. Perhaps the cast just doesn't have the acting chops to hit it home, but one leaves the movie feeling underwhelmed. Comes off as just a level or two better than a Lifetime channel movie.

It has good acting but a little bit too long for the subject matter. Although it has 2 interesting characters, we don't get to explore either of them, we just witness what happens to them so it left me hanging a little bit, but still a decent watch..

Misery coated in a contemporary German sauce.

Unnecessarily long, but otherwise pretty suspenseful.

Tight and intense, and Palmer delivers more than the poor man's KStew the plot needs to drag along, but in the end it never quite turns into the character drama this needs to be to eat up 2 hours.

A young woman traveling alone in Germany thinks she is having a romantic adventure but the relationship turns into a living nightmare. It really annoyed me that there was so much spoken German. They spent a too much time portraying the captor as a man living a normal life. For the first half of the movie I thought Teresa Palmer was Kristen Stewart. Her performance is somewhat memorable. I was unexpectedly entertained by this highly unusual mix of romance and horror.

Dark film. A bit unrealistic end although it couldn't end otherwise. Berlin is not that empty anymore by the way..

I was expecting something so spectacular with that plot that I only can say that it is disappointing. A very boring Thriller indeed, next thing after a boring Horror movie. It is not a supernatural Horror just in case you expected something like that as me.

good performance by Teresa Palmer; it's generally well executed (but with certain low moments), but it's way too long, quickly the movie gets really boring, so, it's quite a walk until it finally ends.

One of the films I liked at Sundance. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to see it but an adequate Thriller.
