Below Zero

Nice genre effort production wise, but there's bad tension between the straight faced treatment and the far-fetched plotting.

Fairly engaging, even if it is built on implausibilities such as the impossibility of communicating with the outside. The detailed and gruesome explanation given by the orchestrator rubbed this viewer the wrong way too, and it was impossible not to imagine the writers sitting around asking themselves "what's the worst thing we can think of?", as if such a procedure is the right way to create a "moral conundrum" in the minds of the audience.

Thoroughly entertaining and suspenseful. Kind of an odd film--think Robert Bresson meets Jean-Claude van Damme. It's definitely all over the place with Its influences. It's written and filmed fairly well while tackling some moral dilemmas, but not without plenty of gratuitous gore, fight scenes and macho, flippant bullheadedness. I'm not sure who the target audience is, probably adolescent boys?? While I wouldn't label it a good film, it held my attention and ended on a high note.
