If you want to know the real reason we can't be friends, it's because I unabashedly like this movie. I think Elizabeth Hurley has never been hotter, and furthermore, I love Brendan Fraiser in it. I'm of the opinion, though, that if you've seen his multiple appearances on Scrubs, you have no right to dislike him.

This was really the perfect role for Liz Hurley; she could show off her body in an array of sexy Halloween costumes, and her obvious vapidity actually passes for evil cunning, and that's all that's ever needed from her. I don't really remember anything else about this movie. I think Brendan Fraser spent a lot of it looking confused.

Liz Hurley, perfectly cast, is working overtime and absolutely stunning in every outfit. The only hiccup with her was her scary scene which felt out of place for the actress. However, Brandon Fraser is definitely out of place in the entire movie as a doofus lacking confidence. That said, the plot and scenarios were all terrible despite an interesting premise. Fav scene: Liz Hurley's intro.

This is basically just the same concept of the original movie, only shat on, burned, puked on then recycled into a can of shit. It basically took all the cleverness and good humor from the orginal movie and turned it into typical hollywood bullshit which is neither fun nor entertaining. Hell, even the lead actors aren't anywhere near as endearing as the originals were.

Having not seen the sure to be superior (?) original, I'll just have to enjoy the hell out of this version. Brendan brings so much conviction to his roles that i don't feel the slightest bit insulted by the silliness. Elizabeth in a constantly changing sexy costume, a mild morality tale, what's not to like? Sure it's a stupid little movie, and an awfully fun stupid little movie.

I found something kind of appealing about it, but I can't for the life of me say why. I mean, Liz Hurley is hot and all, but beyond that, I dunno, I thought the protagonist had a nice little character arc.

"Ah... well, you know, you go out there and you give a 110%, and you wanna play good, and, you know, you hope you play good... I think we played pretty good tonight!" Such a great line and such great delivery by Fraser. The year 2000, when Liz Hurley was sex on legs.

Strangely tepid and flat comedy feels like a PG-13 compromise of material that should have been darker and more aggressive - while neither Fraser nor Hurley would be first pick for this material, they both show up ready to play and its unfortunate they are landed with a clunky, dull and predictable screenplay to energise; the romance with "soul mate" O'Connor is woefully underdeveloped, which means the stakes are never particularly high. At least it's not offensively bad.

The concept was really interesting, and the different clips with the tricks ruining them in the plot could have been entertaining too. The heaven/hell concept with the fresh bits at the ending weren't too bad either. However, there were many scenes that were just too obnoxious, and that brought down the quality of the movie. All the screaming and embarrassing moments and clowning just took me out and made me really impatient

Apparently wishes cannot simply give you something you want. Instead, every time you wish for anything the entire universe has to get re-built from scratch . . . except if what you want is some food.

I liked this movie a lot as Elizabeth Hurley plays a great devil in this movie. Although you're supposed to care about the loser guy in this movie. I just don't as they do a better job in making you care for Elizabeth in this movie even after in the end when she's all sad and wants to give him wishes again.

It's a fun adaptation of the 1967 original of the same name. It mostly updates it with late 90s aesthetic and toothless humour, but it's fun seeing Brendan Frasier and Elizabeth Hurley do their thing. The premise is strong too providing what are essentially skits throughout the movie.

Brendan Fraser leaves it totally at the door in this one. Providing some very real laughs and heart throughout the movie. He is let down by the script itself for the most part which comes off very episodic and not worthy of the Faust legend it is based on.

I never watched the original but I would hope that version is more likable than this one. Brendan Fraser plays a cute, bumbling computer guy who is desperately in love with a coworker who doesn't even know of his existence so the devil comes to the rescue, played by Elizabeth Hurley.
Fraser moves between different personalities to draw in the biggest crowd for this all-ages comedy. A romantic comedy for the whole family, punctuated with a few chuckle worthy moments but overall pretty vanilla

Elizabeth Hurley is awesomely beautiful in this, and there are several comedic moments that stick with you, but that pretty much sums up the only parts that are good. I hated the stupid drug lord part, and the sensitive guy wanted to make me gag. A few good scenes, but totally overshadowed by the bad.

Quite different from the original, this version feels way more consistent: quite enjoyable most of the time and with more laughs overall. It probably fails to match the best scenes of the original though, and it would have left a better taste in the end without the preachy tone. Hurley seems to be enjoying herself tremendously and Fraser ranges from decent to deliciously fun in his various disguises. It could have been much better, but it could have been much worse too.

Elizabeth Hurley is very attractive, and she does have a cute accent, but this movie needed more than her making devilish quips. Brendan Fraser wasn't the right guy for the main role. His geeky, depressed character needed someone more down to Earth. The movie came off as very gimicky because of Fraser's over the top and often too physical comedy. Total crap!
