Golden-throated Mario Lanza stars in Because You're Mine. Lanza plays opera singer Renaldo Rossano, who is drafted into the army. Much to the displeasure of topkick Sgt. Batterson (James Whitmore), Renaldo is given celebrity treatment even while in uniform. From the decade long mission to capitalize on Mario Lanza magnificent voice. To lend a helping hand with his popularity, they also try to catapult a new female voice in Doretta Morrow. Sadly she didn't have the same screen presence and didn't do another cinema picture again, though a few TV roles did come her way. She was much more successful on stage. The film is a light affair filed with excuses to sing. For some the voice will definitely be enough to enjoy this. I needed something more.
