Its a silly movie and its not all that good but Jackie does surprisingly well here with his dialogue. There are two kinds of fights in this, the ones Jackie choreographed and the ones he didn't. The ones he did are faster, fun and inventive. The ones he didn't are slow and somewhat boring. Too bad most of the end fights are not his.

Medicore American Chan film, it seems as if Chan has to slow down so everyone else can keep up. Stil there are a few glimpses of his brilliance.

Pretty stupid, and mostly not entertaining except for the bizarre rollerskate fight.

Jackie Chan has quite a few fun scenes and I liked aspects of the setting, but it never really comes together and I have to subtract at least five points for that random-ass rollerskating race in the middle...

The setting was interesting at first, but it all grew confusing and fast. Some fights feel amateur, and some scenes of Jackie Chan showing his skills are oddly paced or seem to have no connection with the ongoing action. He's good though, it just seems to derail the plot a few times. There was a roller skate race for some reason???

Jackie Chan in his first American movie. Set in the 1930s, so of course Jackie's dad is being exploited by the mob, on top of that they kidnap Jackie's brother's fiancee, forcing him to compete in a big fight contest, the titular Battle Creek Brawl. The result is a flawed, f.e. a few unfinished side-plots, but enjoyable movie. The best parts are the stunts who Jackie clearly choreographed himself.

I've never been much of a fan of Jackie Chan as a martial artist, but he sometimes does impress with comedic timing, this outing has very little comedy. Give it a pass unless you're a Chan completionist.
