Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham

Well, this was actually kind of dull and disappointing. None of the characters felt like themselves which is fine I guess since this was an alternative universe tale but because of that I wasn't really invested either.

WTF. Cannot be more succinct in describing this work.

After a promising start, The Doom That Came to Gotham quickly turns to tedium as it cycles through too many big-name characters while delivering a lacklustre plot that feels much longer than its 85 minute runtime. The production is fine, as are some of the ideas, it's just that it never comes together in a satisfying way.

I dig the Lovecraft stuff going on, especially when seeing what is done to characters we know. For example, Two-Face is grotesque. I don’t like the voice work, and the story just goes along not really explaining a whole lot. The animation is fine, meaning it doesn’t get in the way of the storytelling but is certainly not memorable. At first I wasn’t real into this because it’s not the Batman I want, but it is a nice twist on it. Enjoyable enough.

Kind of cool, but like with so many of these DC releases, the pace is too slow and what actually happens, not that memorable. So many times they came close with it's zombie-style Gotham, but in the end didn't live up to potential.
