Engaging enough for a one-time watch, but they could have used the Victorian setting better, and the action scenes felt like reheated leftovers from the '90s animated series. I'd have preferred a more faithful adaptation of the comic, even if it would have been more predictable.

I don't think I would recommend this because there's just not enough here. The animation isn't good, the plot is unsatisfying, the script is wonky. Generally an animated Batman movie will get at least a pass from me, and I actually enjoyed the OG comic, but this is just not good enough to warrant a watch.

Was there a point to this besides putting Batman in a crappy looking old timey cowl? It wants to push the envelope, but every push is an obvious maneuver and besides its only pushed by blockbuster Batman standards, not R rated killer movie standards. Even comparing to live action, there's more harrowing disturbing characters and emotions there just without graphic violence. The icing on the cake is the animation is totally boring. Style over substance might have saved the day on this one.But no.

Alternative... everything. Alternative Batman, alternative Jack the Ripper, alternative timeline, taking liberties on everything as far as inventions and old references goes. I liked the idea of placing Batman in the old days, but the story was too obvious and they didn't give a crap about the period they set their own story, so the exercise didn't become as rewarding as it should have been.

Neat premise but wasn't really Victorian.

Batman and his adventures are perfect for an R-rating but the story itself is, well a little underwhelming since it never really takes advantage of its setting and while the revisions to the various famous characters were neat I felt they could've been done better.

Its unloyal to main source . Which is a same titled one shot comic from 1989. It has a poor twist, very bad pacing. Animation is pretty bad. Characters, Music, Color Grading and general set-ups are decent. Its better than R rated other DC Animations like Killing Joke or Harley Quinn & Batman but its worse than Justice League Dark.

There's suspension of disbelief and then there's a moneyed, politically well-connected person being remanded without bail in Victorian era Gotham's judicial system.

Very entertaining elseworlds Batman story. The only gripe is the inconsistency in which it uses the time period and the things that would exist during this era. It is a very cool story that takes elements of history and dramatizes them for the sake of creating a Batman story. Very solid movie.

Bland animation and it manages to disappoint with a great theme.
