Before fleeing to America,Gustav Machatý had time to make this ballerina movie in Italy. His elegant capture was present, but I'm not sure this was the most inspired dance story ever put on screen. There was definitely something lacking there. But besides that, the typical Machatý touches applied in a different movie making environment than he was used to.
