In this disturbing tale, recovering addict JJ (Jonathan Tucker) returns home from rehab only to find that he was better off in the clinic. Sober and ready for a fresh new start, JJ discovers that his evil family is plotting to cash in on his life insurance policy before he turns 18. It's easy 2 c why something this noirish (often literally as many scenes seem deliberately underexposed)& darkly comic never got a big release. Still the script does a nice job of having all of these extreme characters make sense: its easy 2 c why the family hates recovering addict J.J. so much, but u also can't help rooting 4 him given how nightmarishly dysfunctional they are. There's also an impressive curveball in the step-dad character who becomes more & more real, the more he surprises.
