Assimilation is a great source of horror, and Bad Hair does a lot of things right up to and including the slight B-movie feel, using a lot of comedy to underline its points. I'm just not sure it always hits the right balance, or that the combination 80s period piece + low-budget CGI is a good combination. But I'm glad Simien is continuing down this path.

really a gallery of talent within the cast, all heavy-lifting and nailing the comedy in here. Simien has an eye for parody and time period specifics. not sure if the movie thematically gels together by the end, but that shouldn't suggest it falls apart! there's a fun watch in here, but it never fully gels.
