Bad Education is a case of a biographical drama being limited by its real-life events. The film is good, holding my attention for the most part, but it never gets great despite an impressive cast. The crimes are peppered throughout the film as they're being unearthed, but no amount of classical music played at an altered tempo can make it exciting. The film does a good job of portraying the embezzling educators as people who got greedy but still care, though it fails to say much else.

? 2 innately likable actors well used ? poss 2 feel 4 (tolerate?) 2 greedy, white-collar thieves - Not sure had ANY of more noble aims film allows | V Good: Hugh, Film's bookends + leak 2 Vegas shot + papercut symbolism + Accelerate scene. Concentric rings of the self-servingly 'unaware' | @ 1st, saw just adeptly handled, unflashy, mild & easy entertainment. But, as I write, the better I realize it was | 1 of best new 'house arrest' movies we have. 4?, Recco U ??

I really enjoyed and invested in Jackman's and Janney's characters early on - no surprises there - even if the early plot feels a little dense to wade through. The tinges of black comedy throughout were really enjoyable, and there's just something timeless about the villain who doesn't see himself as the villain, getting his just comeuppance. As things fall apart for Frank, Jackman turns it up to 11 and actually manages, as an embezzler and an adulterer, to draw sympathy. Underrated performance.

Executives stole money from their school board. High school paper broke the story. That's it. That's like...all there is.

Well-acted true story that held my interest. I do doubt Tassone is as charming as Hugh Jackman who plays him.

Well-written story that really holds your interest, with two ultra-appealing leads: Hugh Jackman and my homie, Allison Janney (Dayton girl rocking that subtle Long Island accent!). Geraldine Viswanathan gives solid support, in a very different sort of a role than she had in "Blockers". Good, solid work in all of the small roles, actually. The mostly VERY classical-sounding score is by Michael Abels, who proves himself quite the stylistic chameleon.

This has an interesting story, great acting, and is actually pretty funny. Hugh Jackman portrays the kindhearted superintendent turned sociopathic thief perfectly.

the second-best movie called Bad Education ever made, but that's not a slight. Jackman is terrific and cements himself here as the premier portrayer of sympathetic middle-aged sleezeballs. growing up and going through a school system not dissimilar to Roslyn's only enhanced the experience. Ray Romano is one of the most inexplicably captivating actors out there, too. give him his own leading role you cowards.

A phenomenal portrait of the state of American schools. The only heroes are the kids. Everyone else is a different degree of corrupt.

Props for putting wolverine in a gay dance club. Great ensemble, unusual story, talented director. As far as i'm concerned that's two for two from finley.

It was a good film. Just not great. Acting was amazing throughout but I felt so disconnected from every character. Moments of black comedy were enjoyable and it didn't drag on long.

A frustrating effort, mostly hampered by the nature of the source material (there are no major fireworks once the crimes are revealed), the film settling on a pair of outstanding performances from Janney and Jackman, (ideally matched) though it's a shame that Janney isn't given the shot at redemption offered to Jackman's Tassone. A well chosen ensemble backing them up makes this a reasonably compelling story well told, but Jackman and Janney's performances deserved a screenplay with more bite.

A great well acted ensemble piece who parts (minus the script) are all award season great and when added to the script just fall apart. The story just isn't meaty enough, even tho it's premise is good, to fully stretch over it's 110 minute runtime. Hugh Jackman and Allison Janney give award nominee performances and the direction and score help elevate the basic script into something that's worth your time but hard to wholeheartedly recommend.

I really enjoyed this movie, is well done the acting is incredible and has a very interesting story. I would've like some more context on the motivation behind their actions, because is done in a very subtle way and you may miss the moral dilemma and the grays areas on these characters.

Awkward conversations: the movie. It's solid, held up mainly by a good cast. The story while interesting isn't really going to grab anyone and hold them so the real show is the great interactions by pretty much the whole ensemble.

A better told story than Thoroughbreds was, probably not as interesting visually. Yet I enjoyed this one more, and that's in part because of Jackman, who was great here. Interesting story but even not being familiar with the original situation it was pretty predictable. It doesn't really dazzle the viewer in any way but shows that a well told story is still worthwhile and this was certainly that.

Second half is full of boring cliches of based on articles movies, but this is engaging and fun enough as a fraud story that could happen anywhere in the world -- this is pure Brazil, where I can't even imagine how far go corporate card abusive spending.

An entertaining, somewhat Coen-esque portrayal of the things that people are willing to ignore (in both others and themselves) in order to get what they "deserve".

A very good piece on the human psyche, very well developed characters, amazing acting, good script, great characters and very good directing just makes this a wholesome, very good film to watch. And so true to the real story. Amazing what people can get away with, and how it can all be brought down.

Better than it ought to be. It has that very TV-like heavily manufactured style, exacerbated by the use of TV-sourced actors like Janney and Romano, and a humorous tinge. There is a surprising measure of restraint and balance in the storytelling, though; it never blatantly overplays its emotional cards or goes overboard with the snark. As a result, while the characters lack any real depth, the finely-tuned narrative grows more and more interesting.
