Back to God's Country

It has its moments of pretty shots and decent tension, and the strong lead character is a plus. But on the whole the film is pretty dull, going through the motions of an awkwardly constructed story.

The narrative is slightly rambling and struggles a bit with pace and focus but it's overall short and snappy enough to be enjoyable if not monumentally effective. Very impressive on-location cinematography, good female lead with a lot of agency, creative editing/effects typical of the era, lots of cute animals. What's not to love? Oh yeah right, blackface.

Easy to follow story. The best parts about this film were the on-location outdoor shots and the animals. The nude scene wasn't even notable. Noble savage depictions of minorities. Fav scene: cool effects at the end with the daydream thought bubble.
