Back Beyond

Even the stuff that didn't make this movie is awesome.

A collection of out-takes and deleted scenes. Like the excellent Blossoms & Blood, this is composed to appear like a short film. Although it's good that some of these scenes weren't included in the film since they stretch the wackiness of the cult, it's still a joy to watch for anyone a fan of the film. I hope PTA continues to do this with each film he makes.

Pretty engaging for what amounts to a series of deleted scenes. The scenes play off of one another in interesting ways, underlining certain peculiarities of the characters, which makes this film a nice companion to The Master.

A film upon itself. Features some of the best non utilized dialogue ever: "I can smell your pussy from underneath your underwear and it is driving me fucking crazy."

Just about hangs together. Reminds me how much I've already forgotten this film: perhaps it's time to give it another shot and see if it has appreciated any.

Of course, it makes more sense if you've seen "The Master". Still, obviously a forceful, intelligent filmmaker at work.
