Baby Bink couldn't ask for more; he has adoring (if somewhat sickly-sweet) parents, he lives in a huge mansion... (imdb)

Calling this "a kids' movie" demonstrates a staggering contempt for kids.

We all have dreams. Mine was to be taken out of the misty mountain jungle and put in a cage in the city, so I could conceal my unbearable rage day by day until one day a stupid and extremely crushable baby comes along and I take my pent up anger, my fists of fury, and I, and I, and I throw the big man away and I beat him up good and I smear doo doo on my face. Yay baby.

A masterpiece by any standard. Hughes and his team out-do themselves with this marvellous coming of age road movie. I've never seen anything quite like it before or since.

Home Alone is a funny film because I like slapstick if it's done well. When it's done badly however, I just pray for it to be over. Let's just say that with the amount of praying I did watching this film I could covet my neighbours oxen and have enough goodwill left over to worship a false idol and still make it into heaven.

Some quarter-century after deeming that this looked like a movie for little kids and declining to watch it in 2nd grade, I’ve finally seen it. And, well, it’s bad just like I figured! The ending construction site scene seems to go on for a year. I won’t deny that Joe Mantegna pulls a few funny painful expressions, hence not giving it a 1.

Manipulative but good natured comedy about an adorable baby constantly eluding the clutches of his would be captors. Mantegna, Pantoliano and Haley are fun as the hapless kidnappers, and Johnson pulls off a big set piece on a construction site that is like Harold Lloyd on steroids. The special effects have aged well, and there is real charm in watching little Bink project his story book fantasies onto real life settings, blissfully obliviousness to the dangers around him.

It's easy to imagine John Hughes pitching this as "Home Alone with a baby". It's also easy to see why this is not discussed or watched repeatedly like the other film(s). As the lead character is a baby, they have to rely more on screwball type comedy with the 3 kidnappers, and sadly most of the gags fall flat. It's just very lazy and mainly a curio for Hughes completionists. It doest have a surprisingly big cast with Mantegna, Lara Flynn Boyle, Pantoliano, Nixon and Neville among others.

Just pay for the Blue Danube, you cheap bastards! Agonising comedy pulls off one notable stunt – having a movie with Mantegna and Pantoliano front and centre that squashes both men’s considerable charisma and makes them irritating to watch (and don’t get me started on the scene where “Baby” sexually assaults Mantegna for yucks. No really!) No-one emerges from this hideous train-wreck unscathed, least of all director Johnson who seems borderline incompetent as a slapstick/comedy director.

This baby had a fun time, but I felt like I was stuck in traffic. I remember watching this way back in '94 and thought it was hilarious. On my revisiting, it wasn't that funny. It was like a Home Alone clone, but just not as good. The best part of the whole movie was when Joe Mantegna had the only tree in his forest burnt down. Baby Bink was absolutely adorable and Cynthia Nixon and Lara Flynn Boyle were also quite adorable. I'm also a fan of Joe Pantoliano from the Sopranos...

Especially loved the part in Baby's Day Out where 9-month-old Baby Bink, unaware of being pursued by a trio of bumbling kidnappers, crawls into the revolving door of Chicago's Marshall Field's department store. He sits up on his padded, Osh-Koshed bottom and smiles a winning baby smile. A store customer pushes the door, thereby propelling the child, who is scootched onto the selling floor with a gentle glide and a nicely dubbed gurgle. Hahahahaha! It's really family film, LOL!!

Kill me now. Baby's Day Out seems like a typical kiddie bag without a point or reasoning to exist other than some will find it entertaining.

The only thing that I can think of when I think of this film is that it is the low point in the Plinkett's movie reviews. And that is still significantly better than this.

Is it funny? Children under three years old might think so. Otherwise, there's nothing going for it. It's like watching an old Mr. Magoo cartoon, but without the enjoyable mumblings. Utter crapulence.

This movie is so simple-minded that only the most easily entertained child will giggle at the "Ha, he fell down" humor in this film. If this were any other film, Joe Mantegna and Joe Pantoliano would have whipped out their guns and taken that baby by force. They must be so embarrassed.
