Nothing really that impressive to be honest. It feels like a Blade Runner/Children of Men-lite. Vin Diesel is honestly pretty good but the movie itself just isn't very interesting or exciting. Even the action sequences aren't very impressive. At the end of the film you don't don't feel satisfied at all simply asking "OK so what was the point of all this?" Apparently it was cut down by the studios though, so maybe the Director's Cut will be better.

I'm still holding onto the hope that Vin Diesel is a good actor, and has just had the misfortune of starring in terrible movies. This one frustrates me because the premise and casting seemed to promise such a good film, but the writing and plot development made it more of a montage of the key scenes of a high end sci-fi mini series than a cohesive film. Maybe Vin Diesel is jinxed. Maybe I'm deluding myself.

The Good: art direction, set design. The Bad: dialogue, editing. The Ugly: studio interference. In better hands this could have been another 'Children of Men'. Pity.

Typical Vin Diesel movie. Afterwards I had one thing in my mind: this is unfinished. I still had some questions which weren't explained in the movie. Too bad, could have been better, really, pretty good even, but it's not.

All points for interesting sets. The story was crap. In the end there was no point for good and interesting beginning. I hate bully movies, but Vin Diesel used to pick up some interesing scifi themes. Here the story just did not make any sense. And the end was very badly excecuted. Depardieu was masked good, almost impossible to recognize.

Awful beyond reckoning. I knew it wouldn't be "good," but I at least expected a big, dumb-yet-amusing sci-fi actioner and instead witnessed a brain-exploding clusterfuck the likes of which we see once a year if that. Pick an element - story, dialogue, choreography, structure, the ending - and it's bottom-of-the-trash-heap horrible.

The first 20 minutes were nice actually, after that it was just ok. I guess I never really got the message behind the movie, but that's fine. Not the kind of movie you wanna watch with friends cuz it's not that interesting.

A beautiful looking mess; the vivid atmosphere created in this apocalyptic world is enticing enough to almost overlook the lurching and episodic plotting, and characters who are well enacted by the cast, but are a fairly dour and grim bunch (though Kassovitz gets the best version of Diesel’s quiet smoldering that I’ve ever seen). Goes to real pieces in the last 30 minutes (while giving Rampling a nice opportunity to snarl and strut), but still more fun than its reputation would suggest.

The only redeeming quality of this movie is the intriguing world it builds; everything else goes from barely OK (the acting, the action scenes) to outright bad (the characters, the story).

I thought it was really quite good, I believe some people are too uptight/nitpicky to let there imagination go and roll with the film. Very good graphics and use of CG, and pretty good acting from a variety of worldwide actors.

Just had to update from 3 to 2. Good God, that intro exposition might be the worst ilin history. It's a tall order for exposition, but this really is gunning for the title. You go in for a mindless action flick, and get tired of it 5 seconds in.

In comparison with other movies in the violent-and-stupid category, Babylon A.D. isn't so bad. Most of these - such as Wanted or Taken - don't have the likes of Charlotte Rampling and Gerard Depardieu in supporting roles. Babylon A.D. also has Michelle Yeoh, an adornment to any cast. Whether they should be there is another question.

What is clear is the movie's near-constant violence and significant profanity. Also its ultimately hostile attitude toward organized religion. Sure, the Noelite sect has more in common with a cult than anything in mainstream Christianity. But the film appropriates so many ideas from the Christian story--not to mention frequent images of a cross--that it leaves little doubt about which religion it's indirectly slamming. (pluggedin.com)

Not sure why someone felt Children of Men needed to be dumbed-down and remade. The plot is a mess, the characters all morons, and it has some of the most appalling action footage ever filmed. It should be impossible to make Yeoh's martial arts skills look bad, but this film manages it.

Whatever the writers thought was clever about the plot gets lost in this junk box of expensive Hollywood action scenes. Melanie Theirry did well with a lousy script. Vin Diesel's character never satisfies. The gun battles were uninspired and stupid. The fighting scenes were so shabbily filmed that not even Michelle Yeoh could save them. Bad script. Terrible directing. Crap music. This should have been a really great movie but instead it is mostly just bad Hollywood on steroids.

It's an action movie. My only dissapointment was that there wasn't the main event action scene. The end of the movie was like a end of the budget. But till that moment there was plenty of good stuff what this kind of movie should deliver. One thing is sure. I rather watch this 100 times more than Children of Men. And the reason is that this one flows better instead being a boring and slow movie.

While it has its moments, Babylon A.D. features a plot that tries too hard and a narrative that makes no sense. Overly stylized direction and under-utilized acting turn the movie from a slight miss into an unwatchable disaster.

Fucking teal and orange. I don't remember a single shot that wasn't teal and orange. I am amazed the lengths they went to to make sure every shot had plenty teal and orange. Even the fucking hotel bathroom was teal and orange. He looks out the window and there are two lights reflected in the window. Blue and orange. I don't know what else happened in this movie. All I can see is teal and orange. So much teal and orange...

A disjointed plot, odd shifts in tone and awful character development - basically what you'd get if Children of Men was written and directed by a six-year-old. The action set pieces are too contrived and, especially toward the finish, just ridiculous. That sub showing up was cool though.

Pitch Black proved that given the right circumstances, Vin Diesel isn't such a bad guy and can helm a good film. Unfortunately, he's not a great actor otherwise and seems forever doomed to play in crap like this. It's well over and hour into the film before you understand anything regarding why things are happening or discover any motivations. Once these are revealed you realize that whatever comes next just isn't going to be worth it anyway. Utter big-budget junk.

A concept movie, with contempt for important film elements like tone, dialogue and pacing (and the concept is basically stolen from Han Solo/Leia's messiah jedi twins, anyway). But it could have succeeded, with great visual design to its credit. B.A.D. was also flawed with the religious element that never jived with the action of the picture, which smells foul of studio interference.

This movie, despite some impressive visuals involving its futuristic landscapes, was as dull an action film as I have seen make it to the multiplexes in awhile. Think "Children of Men" with a dead-on-arrival Vin Diesel and a terrible, confusing script. It's no secret the director slammed the finished product after the studio chopped this baby up to pieces, but I can't imagine much improvement could be made. The troubled production shows; like a glass of warm milk, it'll yank on your eyelids.

Badly written and horribly edited sci-fi actioner with Vin Diesel as a mercenary transporting a special woman from Russia to New York. Think of it as a futuristic Nativity Story. Although the futuristic set pieces are interesting to look at, the rest of the film isn't. Skip it please. You know a film is bad when, after its release, the film's own director bashes the film.
