Uses everything to make you cry, for no reason and gives nothing else. Can be studied for reception theory studies if nothing else.

Heartfelt family drama is highlighted by Tekindor's performance who brings a lot of heft as the cliched "stubborn patriarch", but this Turkish spin on ON GOLDEN POND dissipates its emotions slightly because of a lack of focus in the narrative (are we seeing father/grandfather attempt to reconcile, or is it father/son) - ultimately the flimsy screenplay can't support both stories, pumped up as they are by sentimentality. Still a pleasant if unmemorable experience.

Classical Turkish fare: give me your firstborn and I will solve all your family problems...

It's intensely sentimental to such a degree many may be put off, and the overacting by the actor who plays the brother is so insane it almost must be watched. But it's also a moving, sad movie that blew some dust in my eyes by the end. Most of the acting is beautiful and in a world full of terrible child actors this one is a joy.

Irmak builds up the main turning points brilliantly and the cast does a great job.

En duygusal, en aglak, en dokunakli film. En buyuk kusuru yonetmenin bizleri aglatmak icin filmi biraz fazla zorlamasi.

sinemada izlemis, aglamis ve buraya gelip 80 puan vermistim; 12 yasindaydim. Simdi yirmi yasindayim ve baska bir acidan bakabiliyorum; bu sefer puanimi 30a cekiyorum. Zira insani aglatmak icin her turlu ucuz numarayi bu filmde gorebiliyorum. Film, beni alip manipule etmek icin elinden geleni yapiyor.
