Not a classic but one IMO where, tho strange & improbable, they simply work & keep you watching. In an unusual June-December friendship the two leads really shine (and you want more screentime of their friendship than the movie can give). Film is also good as doesn't shy away from showing some of the problems of aging that prevent the ederly Yuki from doing as she wishes... that plus her magnificent traditional Japanese house. Some gloss removed by the romanticising of manga writer's hard life.
